Over the past couple of weeks, our officers have responded to overdose-related calls, and even one overdose is too many.

We want to acknowledge an important reality: addiction is an illness, and substance use disorder is incredibly hard to overcome. Many people never intended to become addicted, and fentanyl’s extreme potency makes this crisis especially dangerous.

Why this matters:

Fentanyl is the #1 cause of death for ages 18–45

In Placer County, fentanyl deaths increased 450% from 2019–2021

Fentanyl is up to 50x stronger than he**in

One pill can kill.

Illicit pills often look like legitimate prescriptions, and fentanyl has even been found nationwide in street-purchased v**e pens.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available, and recovery is possible.
No one should feel ashamed for asking for support.

This time of year can be challenging and stressful for students and young adults. Thank you to Sierra College for partnering with our office and Aegis to allow us to educate students about the dangers of fentanyl and provide free Narcan.

Today is Giving Tuesday, and we’re asking for your support to help strengthen the health of our communities.

This year, SCMF expanded access to health education across the region, deepened our work in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) prevention, strengthened our substance-misuse initiatives, and grew our new Physician Wellness Program, because caring for our community starts with caring for the physicians who serve it.

What makes SCMF unique is our ability to bring physicians, agencies, and community partners together. This coordinated, physician-led approach allows us to respond to public health challenges with meaningful impact across multiple counties.

Your support today makes a real difference.
Every Giving Tuesday contribution directly fuels trauma-prevention efforts, substance-misuse education, physician wellness resources, and improved access to care for those who need it most.

Thank you for supporting SCMF and helping us build a healthier, more resilient region for everyone.
