I stood with the veterans of DAV Sacramento Chapter 6 today. For 106 years, this chapter has built a community Sacramento’s veterans depend on.

Today also marks 25 years since September 11th. Millions of Americans answered the call to serve in the years that followed. Protecting our veterans is a large part of what we mean when we say, "Never Forget."

Supporting, protecting, and uplifting our veterans will always be my priority. My message to DAV National is simple. Reinstate Chapter 6's charter.

25 years ago, our country stood still as thousands of Americans died at the hands of extremists.

But through the ash and debris, we witnessed extraordinary courage and selflessness. Firefighters, police, paramedics, and civilians ran toward the destruction, knowing the danger, because others needed their help. We owe those who answered the call an unpayable debt.

Our nation will never forget what happened on September 11th. Just as we will never forget the heroic men and women who gave us enduring hope and strength in our most hopeless moments.

Thank you to the Sacramento community for putting on such a thoughtful event every year, and thank you to all of our first responders.

The completion of the new Dos Rios Station is a major step forward for Sacramento—and especially for the families of Marisol Village.

This station brings reliable public transit directly to the community, connecting residents with jobs, schools, health care, and opportunities across our region.

Marisol Village was built around the promise of a more connected and accessible neighborhood. Today, we’re delivering another piece of that promise.

Today, we celebrated the topping out of Kaiser Permanente’s new Railyards Medical Center—a state-of-the-art campus that will expand access to care and serve our growing region for generations.

Scheduled to open in 2029, the new campus will include a 310-bed hospital, medical offices, and more.

I am proud to sign the final beam and celebrate the workers and partners bringing this important investment in Sacramento’s future to life.

I want to thank WellSpace and the California Behavioral Health Association for their unwavering support of our neighbors in need. Your partnership is how we bring real life-saving resources to our community.

WellSpace answers the phone when someone has nowhere else to turn. Leaders, providers, and advocates have built something here that delivers, and we need to ensure they have the resources they deserve.

That’s my job. To take what’s working here and make sure Washington pays attention. When I introduce legislation, I always start with Sacramento.

Together we will keep pushing to pass my 988 Implementation Act.

Since going live in July 2022, 988 has answered more than 26 million calls, texts, and chats from people in need.

That’s 26 million moments when someone reached out and found support on the other end.

But a lifeline only works if someone is there to answer.

That’s why I introduced the 988 Implementation Act—to ensure our crisis centers and the people who operate them have the funding and support they need to be there when it matters most.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Gloria Steinem, a woman whose courage, conviction, and relentless optimism helped changed what was possible for generations of women.

Gloria was more than an icon. She challenged a country that too often told us where we belonged, what we could achieve, and when we were expected to stay silent. She helped tear down those barriers and build a movement that gave millions of women the confidence to demand equality and control over their own lives.

We are all beneficiaries of the progress Gloria helped pave. The best way we can honor her extraordinary life is to keep building on that foundation until everyone has the freedom and opportunity to determine their own future.
