We’re incredibly grateful to the The Sacramento Bee and to staff writer, Graham Womack, for sharing the story of Community Food Connections and the Sacramento City Unified School District students, parents, and educators working with Alchemist CDC every day to make sure no child in our community goes hungry.

This story shines a light on something we see every day across Sacramento County: when students and families have consistent access to nutritious food, children are better able to focus, participate, attend school regularly, and succeed in the classroom. Addressing hunger is deeply connected to educational outcomes, and it takes schools, caregivers, and community working together to ensure every child has the support they need to learn and thrive.

We are thrilled to be working with local artist Leon Willis on an 80 foot mural as part of our long-awaited updates to this beloved, central Oak Park corner.

Today's volunteers helped prep the mural for Saturday's Community Mural Paint Day and brought the BDOG spirit with them!
