On this D-Day anniversary, we remember the courage of the Allied heroes who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

Their bravery and sacrifice turned the tide of WWII and secured our freedom. We will never forget.

Northern Inyo Healthcare District and its chief executive officer, Christian Wallis, were recently recognized by State Sen. Marie Alvarado-Gil for their leadership, service, and commitment to healthcare across the Eastern Sierra.

“It is truly an honor to receive this recognition,” Wallis said. “This acknowledgment really belongs to the entire Northern Inyo Healthcare District team — our employees, providers, volunteers, Board of Directors, and community partners. Clips of Senator Alvarado-Gil’s remarks on the floor yesterday in opposition of the five Parole Board commissioners who have repeatedly chosen to parole some of the worst offenders in the state.

Senator Alvarado-Gil: “These commissioners have repeatedly chosen leniency over public safety… No family should live in fear that a serial child molester could be released into their neighborhood.”

Referring to s*xually violent predator Roberto Detrinidad , Sen. Alvarado-Gil noted of his early release after conviction of a home invasion s*x crime, “and you wonder why there are so many law abiding gun owners in California!”

In a plea to her Democratic colleagues, Alvarado-Gil encouraged a no vote on the confirmations stating, “The law does not require you to vote on party lines independent of the protection of your constituents.”

Today on the Senate floor, Senator Alvarado-Gil spoke against the approval of the five Parole Board commissioners who have repeatedly chosen to parole some of the worst offenders in the state.

In just the past year, panels including these nominees released:

David Funston: kidnapped & s*xually assaulted multiple children as young as 3 & 4. Still admitting pedophilic fantasies in 2021. Called “the monster parents fear the most.”

Gregory Vogelsang: nearly 30 counts of kidnapping & s*x crimes against kids ages 5-11. Sentenced to 355 years to life.

Roberto Detrinidad: stranger r**e of an unconscious woman in her own bed. Out after less than 9 years.

Senator Alvarado-Gil: “These commissioners have repeatedly chosen leniency over public safety… No family should live in fear that a serial child molester could be released into their neighborhood.”

"The people in my district are strong supporters of the 2nd amendment… because of appointments like these… where we give the power and authority to non-elected officials to make decisions about the welfare and safety of our children and families by releasing s*xually violent predators back in to the community; you better believe that I will vote over and over and over again to protect 2nd amendment rights for my constituents.”
