Ovarian cancer is the deadliest gynecologic cancer and the fifth leading cause of cancer death among U.S. women. In California alone, nearly 2,500 women will be diagnosed this year, often only after the disease has advanced.

With no reliable early-detection test and symptoms that can mimic less serious conditions, awareness is one of our strongest tools. That’s why I was proud to co-author Senate Resolution 124, officially recognizing September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in California.

The resolution highlights the need for better education, earlier diagnosis, and greater investment in women’s cancer care. As we mark this month, we honor those we’ve lost, support those still fighting, and stand with survivors. Greater awareness empowers women to recognize the signs, seek care promptly, and access life-saving treatment.

🚨UPDATE🚨

Pacific Gas and Electric Company plans to shut off power in multiple counties this weekend to prevent its equipment from sparking fires.

The utility said an elevated fire risk from winds, low humidity and dry fuels will require activating its Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) protocol on Saturday and could lead to shutoffs on Sunday and Monday.

Heads up, high winds this weekend. From Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

PG&E says possible power shutoffs could occur Saturday through Monday in some fire risk areas as gusty winds, low humidity and critically dry vegetation raise wildfire concerns:

Twenty-five years ago today, America was attacked.

Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken. Families were shattered. First responders ran toward the fire, not away from it. Passengers on Flight 93 fought back and saved countless others.

We remember the mothers and fathers who never came home. The children who grew up without them. The firefighters, police officers, and everyday heroes who gave everything. The men and women who immediately left to defend our country and made the ultimate sacrifice.

We honor the fallen by living with courage, protecting our communities, and never allowing evil to define us.

To the families still grieving: you are not forgotten. To every first responder who still carries the weight of that day: thank you.

We will never forget.

Thank you for your kind words! Standing with California homeowners is something I take very seriously. I appreciate the work of the Association of Realtors in Merced County and beyond.

Thank you, Senator (, ) for standing up for working California families. Californians need policies that expand homeownership opportunities—not create new barriers. We appreciate your commitment to protecting the communities families have worked so hard to call home.

Heartbroken by the loss of Lance Cpl. Josue Gonzalez, a 19-year-old Marine from Riverside County who drowned Saturday at Cherry Reservoir while hiking with a friend.

He served our country with honor. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fellow Marines.

Grateful to the bystanders, boaters, firefighters, and first responders who fought so hard to save him. Please be careful around our reservoirs and waterways this season.

My team was pleased to present a Senate Certificate of Recognition to Manor Market and owner Kyle Oney in appreciation of their longstanding dedication to Bishop and the Eastern Sierra.

As a locally owned, independent market, Manor Market plays a vital role in supporting local farmers, growers, and producers while keeping dollars circulating in our community.

Their commitment to carrying local products helps strengthen the agricultural heritage and economic vitality of the Eastern Sierra.Beyond the marketplace, Manor Market consistently gives back through donations of food, beverages, gift certificates, and supplies, as well as support for schools, FFA, youth organizations, nonprofits, and community events.

Their willingness to go the extra mile for customers reflects a genuine investment in the people of Bishop.
