The CA state May Budget Revision proposes a $2,000 asset limit that would require adults over 65 and those with disabilities to impoverish themselves to qualify for Medi-Cal health care services.

The Assembly has accepted the Governor’s proposed $2,000 asset limit with a delayed implementation. Asset limits include savings, cash, second vehicles, and other financial resources. The administration estimates this proposal would result in about 62,000 people losing coverage within the first two years.

So much wisdom here! Definitely worth the read. …“Only connect…Over the years, I’ve tried to connect the wisdom of the young and the curiosity of the old. Two things that I fervently believe go together…What is the need that needs you most?”

The CA state May Budget Revision’s proposed reduction of PACE funding threatens the stability of a proven model that reduces hospitalizations, prevents unnecessary nursing home placement, and helps older adults remain safely at home.

Existing funding is already far from enough to meet the need. About 90% of older adults in California who qualify for PACE programs—around 240,000 seniors—are not being served.

CALL (916) 445-2841 the Governor’s office and contact your Legislators to speak up against the nearly $1 Billion in proposed cuts to programs for older adults and people with disabilities. https://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/
