Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento

Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento With a daily capacity of 88, we serve more than 1,500 children each year.

The Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento is committed to changing the lives of abused and neglected children and their families by providing a safe haven of comfort, hope and healing. Founded in 1944, the Children’s Receiving Home is the safety net for the Sacramento area’s abused and neglected children between the ages of 1 and 17; we are the only emergency shelter of its kind in the area. As

a shelter, the Receiving Home is a refuge where children can stabilize and heal from the severe abuse and neglect they have suffered. When children are brought here they are frightened and upset because their world has been turned upside down. While in our care each child receives a full scale assessment and diagnosis and a comprehensive level of services, including food, shelter and clothing, activities and recreation, an on-site school, and medical and dental care; all which enable the child to cope with their fears and process what they have experienced.
