🚨 Public Safety Reminder from Littleville Fire & Rescue 🚨

We’ve responded to several heat-related emergency calls over the past few days and would like to remind everyone to take this heat and humidity seriously.

💧 Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.

⏸️ Take frequent breaks if you’re working or spending extended periods outdoors. Find shade or air conditioning whenever possible.

🌡️ Be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, including dizziness, headache, nausea, weakness, muscle cramps, confusion, and excessive sweating.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may be more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.

🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a short period of time.

The combination of high temperatures and humidity can quickly become dangerous. Please don’t overdo it. If you’re working outside, slow down, take breaks, and drink plenty of fluids.

Your safety is important to us. Let’s all do our part to stay safe and prevent heat-related emergencies.

⚠️ Motorcycle Safety Advisory ⚠️

Littleville Fire & Rescue would like to remind all motorcycle riders to use extra caution on the roadways following the recent rainfall and the potential for additional storms this evening.

Heavy rain can wash debris, gravel, sand, mud, leaves, and other hazards onto roadways, creating dangerous riding conditions—especially on curves, intersections, bridges, and rural roads. Even small amounts of debris can significantly reduce traction and increase stopping distances for motorcycles.

Please remember:
🏍️ Slow down and increase following distance.
🏍️ Watch for debris in curves and low-lying areas.
🏍️ Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns.
🏍️ Wear all proper safety gear.
🏍️ Stay alert for changing road conditions, especially after dark.
🌊 Always be on the lookout for water over roadways. It only takes a small amount of moving water to create hazardous conditions, hide roadway damage, or cause a rider to lose control.

Your safety is our priority. Take a few extra minutes to reach your destination safely.

One week to go! Time to get excited!

Colbert County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments is hosting the 49th Annual AAVFD Firefighter Conference!

Over 75 vendors are scheduled to be in attendance. In addition, there are 5 training opportunities including sonar class, bleed control class, chainsaw class, fireground communication and fire college props.

Saturday features the conference favorite, firefighter competition, annual business meeting and banquet. During banquet, the Firefighter of the Year and the Sherry Garner Memorial Award recipients will be announced along with the trophy presentation to the firefighter competition teams.

We look forward to seeing you in Muscle Shoals June 12-13.
