Logan County KY Solid Waste

Logan County KY Solid Waste We are a county & state government agency. This office deals with waste & recycling in Logan Co., KY.

Logan County KY Solid Waste, in charge of waste procedures, litter abatement, and recycling

10/20/2023

If any nonprofit group (schools, churches, clubs, etc.) could use some extra funds, the county has money left for 2023 highway litter pickups. It is a nice time to do it with better weather. We will pay $100 a mile for the work and provide the supplies. Even if a group had the ability to pick up litter for just one mile, it could make a difference and we will work with them. If interested, please contact the solid waste office at 270-726-7220.
Note-at this time we cannot accept individual workers, only nonprofit groups.

As a reminder, the Logan County free dump days are the 2nd and 4th Saturdays every month from 8 am to noon at the transfer station, 55 Pleasant View Drive in Auburn, just off 68-80. Most items are accepted, including furniture, construction debris, and electronics. They don't take tires, Freon-containing appliances, paint not dried out, hazardous chemicals, and car batteries.

Tomorrow, Oct. 14th at the To***co and Heritage Festival in Russellville, look for specially marked aluminum recycling trash receptacles to place drink cans into. These are sponsored by Logan Aluminum, and the metal will go back to Logan Aluminum to be recycled. Thanks for checking these out and recycling.

Tomorrow on Friday October 6th, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. is our waste tire day, at the Logan County Road Department, 1088 Peyton St, Russellville (not the state barn on Nashville Rd). There is a 15 passenger tire limit, 2 of those can be semi tires. No other types of tires can be taken, including those with rims. Please do not come before 8 or after 11 and expect service, but we hope folks can take advantage of this opportunity.

With the recent issues discussed at fiscal court (and beyond) concerning Dar Pro and the increase in odor/contaminants in the air, Dar Pro upper management communicated to KY Division of Air Quality that they wanted the Logan County public to call in when and where they were smelling the odor, to help them to work on fixing it.
That number to call and report to Dar Pro is 270-946-1302. I called this number and talked to Tim at the factory, and he seemed quite willing to help with this issue. If you smell the Dar Pro odor, please feel free to call in and report.

Good afternoon. Our next waste tire day will be held on Friday October 6th, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Logan County Road Department, 1088 Peyton St, Russellville (not the state barn on Nashville Rd). There is a 15 passenger tire limit, 2 of those can be semi tires.
Some restrictions-We are not able to take large tractor and implement tires. The 15 tire limit is per vehicle, not person that comes-in other words, you cannot bring 3 people out there in your 1 vehicle and recycle 36 tires. Repeat trips are also not allowed (bringing the same vehicle with a different driver; bringing the same driver with a different vehicle, etc.). We have had individuals and farms try to do repeat trips and we just can't do it. Tire dealers and auto salvage yards are also unable to come. Please also don't come before 8 am and expect to be served early.
The reason for most of these restrictions is the limited funding available. Next year will be the big tire event in Logan county, where folks can bring unlimited tires.

From Scott Waste for Logan County garbage service----
With high temperatures expected over the next several weeks they are planning to move up start times in the morning by 1 hour. This would allow them to start picking up carts as early as 5:30am. This reduces the risk to employees and gets them out of the hot temperatures and direct sun earlier in the day. The service will remain consistent. There will be no other changes to routes as residents will be serviced in a timely manner on their pickup day as scheduled. They remind residents that they appreciate them setting their carts to the curbside the night before pickup.
They greatly appreciate consideration in matters pertaining to our employee’s safety and health.

Scott Waste discussed with Logan county and it was decided to be appropriate to start picking up garbage about 2 hours earlier tomorrow, Friday June 30th due to the extreme heat forecasted, starting around 3 AM instead of 5 AM. All Friday routes should be collected but earlier than normal. Please make sure to have trash totes out appropriately, probably sometime tonight. Thanks.

Someone near Russellville had a deer die on their property, and they were looking for someone to help remove and properly dispose of that deer (for pay of course). If anyone is able to help or knows someone, please let us know on here or message on here.

Good morning. Someone unfortunately forwarded a post from 4 years ago saying free dump day is today, and I am told there is a line at the transfer station. Free dump day isn't today, it is next Saturday, as it is the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Please don't come to the site today, as they are working on the site and can't help you. Thanks.
