Updates for teachers regarding the Teacher Incentive Allotment Local Designation System.

We are excited to share updates regarding the Alvin ISD Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) Local Designation System.

The district's expansion application has been approved, which means additional teaching categories are now eligible for participation in the Alvin ISD TIA Local Designation System.

Beginning with this expansion for the 2026-2027 school year, the eligible teaching categories include: Grades 4–8 Reading, Grades 4–8 Mathematics, Algebra, English, English II

These categories are eligible at all Alvin ISD campuses (ADAPT is not eligible at this time.)

The Alvin ISD TIA website has been updated with the latest information regarding eligibility, timelines, and program details. We encourage all staff to visit the website to review information about the Teacher Incentive Allotment. All teachers will receive detailed information regarding TIA during inservice at the start of the 26-27 school year from your campus administration. Additionally, there will be a voluntary TIA Informational session in September for anyone interested in attending. Throughout the 2026-2027 school year, staff will be informed about TIA in Alvin ISD through newsletters, virtual TIA Office Hours, and through TIA Campus Ambassador updates.

Thank you for your continued commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. We look forward to supporting our educators through the continued growth of the Alvin ISD TIA program.

Great day with the Alvin ISD Book Bus with Trustee Garza at Kidz Harbor.

Being present, even if just for a short while, makes a difference. These moments matter and I look forward to the opportunity to continue doing this across the entire Alvin ISD community.

A full-scale emergency response training exercise will take place at Jackie Caffey Jr. High, Meridiana Elementary, and the Alvin ISD Heritage Complex on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Alvin ISD is collaborating with the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office as part of ongoing school safety and emergency preparedness efforts aligned with Texas House Bill 33 (the Uvalde Strong Act) and ongoing Texas school safety preparedness requirements.

Community members in the area may notice an increased presence of law enforcement, emergency vehicles, first responders, and possibly a Life Flight helicopter participating in the exercise. There may also be loud noises associated with the training scenario, including sirens, helicopter activity, and simulated gunfire of blank rounds. Please be aware that this is only a training exercise.

The exercise will take place throughout the morning and into the early afternoon on June 17. During this time, roadways surrounding Caffey Jr. High, Meridiana, and Heritage Complex will be closed to regular traffic and activities. Following the exercise, student and staff volunteers participating in the scenario will be bused under police es**rt to another site as part of the training exercise to practice reunification procedures.

Our district is serving as the host site for this county-coordinated training exercise. Thank you for your understanding and support as local agencies and school districts work together to strengthen coordination and working relationships among our responding partners.

I am filled with immense gratitude as I begin my term as Alvin ISD Trustee.

Thank you to Judge Roy Castillo for administering the oath of office and for your kind words to me before the start of the meeting.

I’m grateful to have had my immediate family with me as well. My heart was full but also heavy as I kept thinking about my dad. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about him.

To my fellow trustees, thank you for being so welcoming. I look forward to very meaningful dialogue with each of you as we continue the work to move the district forward. And a congratulations for our newly elected officers!

To the many friends who were in attendance or watched online, I cannot say enough how grateful I am to each of you for your words of encouragement through text or phone calls.

I also want to thank and congratulate DrRhonda Mason on her first Board Meeting as our Superintendent. I’m looking forward to the many more ahead!

In full transparency, I am still wrapping my head around everything that happened today. At the end of it all, I give thanks to God for allowing me the opportunity to serve in this capacity.
