We are the Umpqua Lions, Chartered in 1954 and serving Douglas County in the Roseburg Oregon area ever since those early years. Our main focus is meeting the sight and hearing needs of our community members who need some extra help in that area; we do this through providing hearing and sight exams and glasses and hearing aids. We also have an abundance of other areas assistance and fundraising tha

t we Lions are involved in :



Every year we participate in our Annual "Santa Run" this is an activity to bring us all together during the "Holiday Season" Santa and his elves shop for, wrap and deliver gifts and food boxes to some community members that need a little extra help for their family during the holidays. We also believe that education of our young people is the future so we have Scholarships to help with that educational expense:

The Tom Hobbs Roseburg High School Scholarship for sports accomplishments. The Vera Shukle Nursing Scholarship

The Jim and Sharon Gregory Scholarship

And last but not least :

The UCC General Scholarship


We also do a little fundraising to help us with our efforts you can find us at the "Lions Den" at Legion Field ( behind 1st Base) There you can find some pretty upscale Ball Park goodies....

We cannot forget our Annual Charity Golf Tournament its a great time had by all members and participants. Food, Fun, Prizes and lots of great golf stories for our community

We also get involved with other local Lions Clubs to help with some community and stat.e activities such as :


See's Candy Sales; Oregon Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit; Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Bell Ringing; Veteran's Stand Down at the VA in Roseburg and much more. Our Meetings are Held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at Waldrons Tom Tom Restaurant 1370 NW Garden Valley, Roseburg, OR 97471

Another great charity golf tournament is in the "bag". The weather was fantastic, warm with a slight breeze throughout the day made for some great golf. The Umpqua Lions want to thank all the sponsors for helping us put on another successful tournament. Also, a big thank you to all the businesses and individuals who donated prizes for the raffle. but, it would not be a tournament without all the golfers - thank you for helping us provide for the local needs with sight and hearing. All of the above are greatly appreciated by the Umpqua Lions.

The Umpqua Lions held their annual installment dinner at the Blac N Blu Bistro on Sunday, August 27. New officers for the coming year are: Lion Carol Johnson - President; Lion Tom Baker - 1st Vice Pres.; LIon Ron Beach - 2nd Vice Pres.; Lion Dale Debs - 3rd Vice Pres.; Lion Donda King - Secretary; Lion Kristeen Oliver - Treasurer; Lion Mary Stinson - Tail Twister; Lion Jim Johnston - Lion Tamer; Directors: Lions Jack Weller, Joel KIng, Jeff Plummer, Randy Smith and Past President Rick Bierman. Past District Governor Carol Brink swore in the various officers. Lion MIke Esters (in the stead of President Lion Rick Bierman - who was sorely misseed- made the presentation of the Gavel and Charter to incoming President Lion Carol Johnson.

We are working on our Annual Golf Tournament and are still looking to Tournament Sponsors , Major Sponsors and Tee Sponsors as well as items for the raffles. Going to have $1,000,000 hole in one as well as 3 $10,000 hole in ones. Also, looking for golf teams and Jacks Famous Ribs are again at the head of the menu. Message me for additional info.
