Delivery of Controlled Substance Causing Death
Ronald Rolland Landskroener Sentenced to the Michigan Department of Corrections
In August of 2026, Ronald Rolland Landskroener was found guilty by a Jury in Roscommon County of:
1. Delivery of a Controlled Substance Causing Death
2. Delivery of Fentanyl
3. Delivery of Methamphetamine
4. Destroying/Tampering with Evidence
Today, Judge Robert W. Bennett in the 34th Circuit Court sentenced Landskroener to 350 to 480 months in the Michigan Department of Corrections for these crimes, imposing a minimum sentence of just over 29 years of incarceration. This sentence was based, in part, on Landskroener’s lengthy criminal history and his status as a felony habitual offender. Landskroener was convicted under a Habitual Offender, Fourth Offense Notice - the highest level of habitual offender under Michigan Statute.
The victim in this incident died from overdose with a mixed toxicity of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and Xylazine. Overwhelming evidence was presented in this case to the jury, proving the Landskroener had purchased drugs in Saginaw where he was a resident at the time of this incident, and then brought them into our community to provide to residents here. The evidence proved so strongly in this case that the victim was provided lethal drugs by Landskroener, that the jury only needed to deliberate for 14 minutes before reaching guilty verdicts on all counts.
Sheriff Stern desires to send a clear message with this prosecution, “Those bringing dangerous controlled substances into our community will not be ignored. Northern Michigan law enforcement works every day to locate narcotics traffickers and offenders. Those who deliver drugs here resulting in the death of our residents will be investigated relentlessly. There is no tolerance in Roscommon County for this kind of crime and offenders should know that we will not allow those who wish to infect our area with these kinds of poison to continue.”
Prosecutor Susan Dillon presented the case for the People in this incident and echoed the thoughts of Sheriff Stern. “It is my job to bring justice for the people of Roscommon County. I will continue to work with law enforcement to hold offenders infecting our community and our families with dangerous drugs accountable for their actions. Drug addiction has the potential to devastate any family in our community, and we will continue to prosecute anyone who is possessing or delivering illegal drugs in our county.”
The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank all of those who worked in conjunction with investigators to locate and preserve evidence in this case leading to a successful prosecution, including the Michigan State Police Crime Laboratories, the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Houghton Lake EMS, Roscommon County Central Dispatch/911, and the Genessee County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Ronald Rolland Landskroener Sr. Found Guilty By Jury
On November 22, 2023, a press release was provided by the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office reference charges issued and an arraignment held on Ronald Rolland Lanskroener Sr. related to the overdose death of 42-year-old woman from Houghton Lake on September 6, 2023.
Ronald Landskroener’s jury trial began on these charges on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in the 34th Circuit Court for the County of Roscommon with the Honorable Robert Bennett presiding. The trial continued into four days with jurors hearing closing arguments this morning. The jury was charged and subsequently returned a verdict of guilty on all counts charged:
1. Delivery of a Controlled Substance Causing Death - guilty
2. Delivery of Fentanyl - guilty
3. Delivery of Methamphetamine - guilty
4. Destroying/Tampering with Evidence – guilty
Landskroener was remanded to the custody of the Roscommon County Jail and will be sentenced on a later date in the 34th Circuit Court.
