Chip Hood is a lifelong Floyd County, Georgia resident and a dedicated small business owner with deep roots in the community. A proud graduate of Coosa High School and Augusta State College, Chip has spent his entire life in Rome, b
uilding his business, ForEvergreen, which has proudly served the area since 1998. Chip and his wife, Beth, have been married for over 30 years and have three beautiful children. In his free time, Chip enjoys anything related to being outside, working, and flying—he especially enjoys flying over the beautiful landscapes of Rome, Georgia. As a small business owner, Chip understands the importance of fiscal responsibility, hard work, and the challenges of balancing financial decisions. He believes in conservative, thoughtful decision-making that reflects the values of the community and ensures long-term sustainability. These values have guided his approach to business, leadership, and service throughout his life. From an early age, he learned the importance of a strong work ethic and the value of giving back. He began his journey of service by delivering newspapers and mowing lawns, gaining a firsthand understanding of the value of hard work. Chip's service to the community extends far beyond his business. He has been actively involved in numerous local organizations, including:
- Serving on the Boys and Girls Club Board
- Being a member of the Northwest Georgia Sexual Assault Board
- Contributing to the Chamber of Commerce
- Leading two Leadership Rome classes
- Chairing the Sara Hightower Library Board for eight years
- Chairing the Floyd County Airport Commission for eight years
In addition, Chip has been a proud member of the Floyd County Schools Board of Education since 2014, where he has worked with other dedicated board members and staff to improve the educational experience and prepare students for success in life. Under his leadership, the board has made significant strides in fostering a positive and successful educational environment. Chip is passionate about continuing to make Floyd County a better place for all its residents. He believes that his experience as a small business owner, his commitment to service, and his leadership on various boards and committees have prepared him to tackle the challenges facing the county and to represent the people of Floyd County with integrity, dedication, and a focus on the future. Chip is running for Floyd County Commission, Post 4, because he believes it is the right time for him to step up and give back in a new way. He is committed to working with the community to make Floyd County a place where businesses thrive, families grow, and everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
