The Rome Police Department is providing an update regarding the missing person investigation involving 50- year-old Patrick J. Iannotti, who was last seen on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The investigation has been ongoing
with the assistance of the New York State Police.

On June 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., New York State Police responded to the area of Lock 22 on Wood Creek Road in the Town of Verona after receiving a report regarding the discovery of an unidentified deceased individual.

On June 12, 2026, the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the body recovered at that location was Patrick J. Iannotti.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Patrick.

This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

At this time, the investigation remains active and ongoing. The Rome Police Department is asking anyone with information related to this incident to contact the New York State Police at 315-366-6000 or send them an email at [email protected]

On June 5, 2026, the Rome Police Department was honored to be among numerous local Law Enforcement Agencies at the Special Olympics Summer Games Opening Ceremony at Utica University.

Olympic events have been taking place at Utica University, Hamilton College, Mohawk Valley Community College, and the City of Utica Tennis Center. There are over 800 athletes competing in various sports including athletics, basketball, powerlifting, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.

The Rome Police Department is seeking assistance in locating a missing person. 50-year-old Patrick J. Iannoti of Rome, was last seen on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Iannoti is a white male, approximately 5’7”, 240 pounds, with white hair, brown eyes, and is known to have facial hair. Last seen wearing a white baseball hat, white long sleeve shirt, jeans and black shoes.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Iannoti or his activities on or after May 23, 2026, please contact the Rome Police Department at (315) 339-7780 or the Oneida County Dispatch Center at (315) 337-3311.

On May 22, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Rome Police Departments Patrol Division responded to a reported larceny involving the theft of a tip jar at Domino’s restaurant, 113 Erie Blvd West in the City of Rome.

During the investigation, officers were approached by a female victim who reported that the same suspect had just stolen her v**e pen.
The investigation determined that the suspect, identified as Ashleigh P. Rimiller (6/6/1993), forcefully took a backpack from the victim, removed a v**e pen from inside the bag, and fled the scene. Officers located Rimiller a short distance away and took her into custody without further incident.

Rimiller was charged with Robbery in the Third Degree and Petit Larceny. She was processed at Rome Police Headquarters and transported to the Oneida County Jail for pre-arraignment detention.

Today, we honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

On this Memorial Day, the Rome Police Department pauses to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women of the Armed Forces who gave their lives for our freedom.

Their courage, commitment, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful.
