Here are the updated rules for the 2021 season.

1. All games will be played on Tuesday nights, city diamonds at 7:30 and 8:30 (some weeks will have 9:30 games).
2. 20 player maximum roster, 13 batting, free substitution.
3. 7 players must be available to start or continue a game. If a team begins with 7 players, late players may enter the game at any time provided the batter does not have a count. Teams playing with less than 10 players will not be required to take automatic outs in the 8th, 9th, and 10th positions.
4. The 3 balls and 2 strikes rule will be in effect. 2nd strike fouls are ruled out.
5. Strike zone—a pitch that hits any part of the mat and the home plate.
6. If a batter bunts or chops at the ball, she will automatically be called out. Base runners will not be allowed to advance.
7. If a 2nd strike foul is played by the defensive team, the runners are allowed to advance on their own judgement.
8. Appeal plays—instant appeals may be made to the umpire.
9. No runner has the right to deliberately crash into a fielder, regardless of the fielder’s position on the base path. The runner will be called out and will be ejected from the game if ruled flagrant by the umpire.
10. Interference—the runner must make an effort to avoid causing interference.
11. Pre-game infield warmups are allowed only if time permits. Pitchers are allowed 5 pitches in the first inning and 3 pitches in the remaining innings.
12. Run rule—15 runs after the 3 innings and 10 runs after 5 innings.
13. Player/Fan conduct—umpires have the authority to eject players for poor behavior. Fans will be asked to leave if they are not respectful.
14. PITCHING RULE: Pitch must be higher than the batter’s head. If it is a low pitch, it is a ball unless swung at. Pitcher’s foot must be in contact with the pitching rubber when releasing the pitch. ***Umpire must call low pitch AFTER it crosses the plate.
15. Courtesy runners are only allowed to replace a runner who becomes injury during the game. Courtesy runners will be allowed to start running once the batter reaches first base. Pregnant women may have courtesy runners if okay with the opposing team. Courtesy runners must be last out.
16. In-field fly rule—fly ball hit in the infield, with 0-1 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd base, batter is out, and runner may advance at their own risk.
17. NO RUNNERS MAY LEAD OFF BASE. NO warnings will be issued to teams. Leading off the base will result in an AUTOMATIC OUT.
18. Balls must pass home plate before a ruling can be called. Umps can’t call the play while the ball is in the air.
19. Subs can play for multiple teams during the regular season but can play for only one team during tournaments
20. To play in tournaments you must have played in at least 2 games during the regular season.
21. Dues are to be paid to the treasurer. They are $200 this year.
22. Games must start on time.
23. Games will be played for 7 innings with no time limit.
24. If the hour ends in a tie, play another inning. Last out starts on 2nd base.
25. Captain of winning team must call/text the president with the score before the next week’s game.
26. In tournaments, the team with the higher seed bats last.
27. If a game is called because of rain, the game must be played through the 5th inning to be considered a full game. Otherwise, the game will need to be replayed, from the beginning, at a later date.
28. Teams must keep a record book of all their runs scored during each game.
29. Home plate umpire has the final call on a play.
30. When scoring a run, the runner must touch home plate (not the mat) in order for the run to count.
31. Players must be entering 9th grade in the fall or older to play.
32. Full time team members cannot sub during tournaments.
33. Umps MUST be prepared and confident. Must make calls promptly and there will not be arguing allowed with the ump.
