Monroe County Legislator Ernest S. Flagler-Mitchell represents the 29th District, which includes neighborhoods in the City of Rochester’s Northeast and Northwest. Ernest was elected to the County Legislature in the fall of 2014 and was sworn in on January 1, 2015. Ernest currently serves as the Ranking Minority Member of the R

ecreation and Education committee and as a member of the Environment and Public Works committee. He is a member of the City of Rochester Fire Department and works in the Community Reduction Unit, which is housed in the Public Safety Building. Legislator Flagler-Mitchell greets spectators before the 2015 Puerto Rican Parade. In 2005, Ernest was a graduate of the African American Development Program. He has been honored by community organizations over the many years for his community involvement and he continues to still stay involved in Group 14621, Rochester Rams Pop Warner Football and is the Founder of Rochester Parents United. Ernest is an Ordained Elder at the Word of The Cross Church. He attended Monroe Community College and received an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts. He and his wife Keia have eight children: Bobbi, Alyia, Fphasieth, Odessia, Richard, Ernest Jr, Ja’Mese, and, Jairus Mitchell, and he is a grandfather of two: Derrick Macon, Jr. As a parent, he understands that investing in are youth must be top priority, making sure that they have good jobs, education and the skill set they will need to tackle the world and make this community better.
