If you know me IRL, you know that my circumstances are not ideal right now. I haven’t made a single sale in over 2 months since dedicating most of my time to elevating Palestinian voices over selling my products and services.

On the real, I’m in a state of financial insecurity since being laid off in August; my kids have ever-growing expenses; my partner is juggling all of the things; and frankly — I’m constantly overwhelmed and exhausted by the absolute moral depravity of [most of] the people on the internet.

Capitalism is absolutely winning and the only thing I can say with confidence is that I won’t let it silence me.

Imagine how quickly this might have ended if people brought the same energy they have to fight “haters” of certain white billionaire pop stars to call out the so-called leaders of our government and demand they stop using our tax funds for murder.

If you can’t find it in yourself to fix your face to say or do something - literally ANYTHING - in support of the Palestinian civilians being absolutely decimated by the IOF, then you’re not welcome here.

I’m just making sure it’s known before I move forward because this Barrio’s about to get a whole helluva lot smaller.

White people, put your money where your “little black box in 2020” mouth is.

Black and Brown descendants of the diaspora(s), rest if you need to although I know most of us feel called to action more than ever before.

Find your lane and stay firmly planted in it. The only thing I know is that unless you too are a gen0cidal maniac, your lane definitely isn’t the bystander one.

We’re way, way past being able to accept what’s BEEN happening as a “side effect” of war.

This isn’t a war. There are so many people, despite their own grief and humanity, doing the hard fu***ng work of educating about the ongoing Nakba and ways you can support.

I wanted to write up some thoughtful ideas about how we the people can disrupt systems motivated by the unequal distribution of wealth and power. How pouring into local establishments is a low-lift way to live in your values while supporting people like you.⁣

I’m tired though. Like really, really tired. Burnt out from trying to prove my worth and live in my values when all I want is for my kids to grow up in a world less plagued by violence, hatred and pain.⁣

I want to make things that inspire beautiful thoughts and feelings while fostering loving community because I believe that’s what we are hardwired for.⁣

Right around this time last year, I promised myself that I would take a maternity leave to focus on mothering to babies without losing myself. Instead, I worked through contract after contract (all with a couple of broken fingers) in the name of satisfying a growing client base and building my business. Literally right up until hours before Julian made his entrance and almost immediately after getting him settled at home. ⁣

⁣
Being a human that is called to connecting with and lending my energy to others can be difficult. Add to that the never-ending search for a new professional role and I find myself *waves hands* burnt out. ⁣
⁣
⁣
The difference this year is that there are some really great opportunities coming my way, my bank account looks aiight and I feel a creative unease that needs tending to.⁣
⁣
⁣
I really, really don’t want to continue to f**k things up by being spread too thin to invest my time and energy where it is needed most so I’m taking a break. ⁣

⁣

I didn’t know today’s date for the longest time despite all of the other posts proclaiming that a special energy was in the air. ⁣

Growing up, I was always impressed by the families that had their s**t together enough to send out an annual greeting card. Now I make them and I’m even more inspired because my clients are not only very put together but also very cute. ⁣
⁣
These cuties I made for us last year never made it to the mailbox. I got excited for a sec when I considered recycling them but then I remembered we’ve got a new team member. ⁣
⁣
Better luck next year? Or should I print Julian’s face on a sticker and pop him in there? 👶🏽😅
