Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge's Restaurant Week returns September 12-20!

This is an opportunity to explore new spots or enjoy special promotions at your favorite participating restaurant.

This event features unique menus and specials from participating restaurants throughout the Roanoke region, which includes Roanoke County and the Town of Vinton as well as Roanoke City, Salem, Frankin County, Rocky Mount, Boones Mill and Botetourt County.

Virginia's Blue Ridge Restaurant Week will be held September 12-20, 2026, celebrating local restaurants and cuisine throughout the Roanoke Region.

The Roanoke River Greenway has officially debuted in Explore Park . Four miles of greenway recently opened in the park. This part of the greenway is unique in its quiet isolation. The completion of the greenway will allow for more opportunities for water activities like fishing and tubing in the park.

Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism took over ownership of Explore Park from the Virginia Recreational Facilities Authority in 2025. The Destination Explore Park series follows the growth and development of the park activities and amenities.

• An agreement with Lionberger Construction for the Hollins Library renovation

• A resolution to approve the annual budgets for the county and the public schools

• A resolution to amend the Roanoke County 200 Plan to incorporate the Plantation Road area pedestrian road safety assessment

Roanoke County’s administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 25, 2026, for Memorial Day.

Trash collection for all routes will be delayed 1-day during the week of May 25-29, 2026:

Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday, May 26
Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday, May 27
Wednesday routes will be collected on Thursday, May 28
Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, May 29
All Roanoke County Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.

Parks, Recreation and Tourism schedule for Monday, May 25:

Recreation facilities will operate as scheduled.
Green Ridge Recreation Center - Early Closure 5:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Brambleton Recreation Center - Closed
Parks, Recreation & Tourism Admin Office - Closed

CORTRAN services will not be available on Monday, May 25.

McAfee Shuttle will be operating on schedule.

Roanoke County Circuit Court will be closed Monday, May 25.

The Roanoke River Greenway is now at Explore Park!

Today we celebrated the ribbon cutting for a new, 4-mile section of greenway in Roanoke County.

The greenway is a great spot for families to enjoy the outdoors. Keep your eye out for new events coming to the greenway from Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism!
