Healthy Homes Roanoke is a public-private partnership that works to improve the health, safety, and comfort of our most vulnerable citizens through holistic home assessment that addresses energy burden, indoor air quality, and home safety. Healthy Homes Roanoke is a public-private collaborative that works to make homes in Roanoke healthier, safer, and more comfortable for our most vulnerable resid
ents. For qualifying residents, we complete holistic home assessments that identify housing hazards such as mold, poor indoor air quality, lead paint, energy burden, and accessibility concerns. The current partners in the collaborative are Blue Ridge Independent Living Center, Carilion Clinic, City of Roanoke's Office of Community Resources and Office of Sustainability, Community Housing Partners, Freedom First Federal Credit Union, Renovation Alliance, Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts, Roanoke Gas Company, and Total Action for Progress. Healthy Homes Roanoke and our home rehab work is funded through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes. The City of Roanoke received a $2 Million grant in 2022 to address health and safety hazards for housing units located in the City.
