To Louis Rosarbo Dinsmore, Chair of the Richmond Republican Town Committee and fellow residents of the Town of Richmond RI.

Please be mindful that not all Republican candidates have Richmond’s best interest in mind. Apparently not all the candidates have been vetted.

Are you aware that the 'star' candidate, Mike Colasante is among other things, a serial zoning violator here in Richmond RI?? It is true.

For years he ran a wood processing business for lumber and firewood in a residential subdivision, a direct violation of zoning ordinances. Mike claimed it was a “hobby” and that he was only doing it to build “picture frames and birdhouses” with his grandkids. When confronted by the town’s zoning official and the zoning board of review, he continued lying and called his Woodmizer Sawmill a “trailer mounted bandsaw.” Even the manufacturer’s website calls it a Sawmill. As always, Mr. Colasante was playing games with semantics and lies.

Mr. Colasante refused to comply with multiple cease and desist orders from town. Eventually, the Town of Richmond RI finally was forced to conduct an investigation and on 7/14/2021, after the Town of Richmond RI spent a ton of time and money, the case went to the Superior Court in Washington County RI (Case Number: WC-2021-0220). Only after being shut down by Superior Court did he take his business to a commercial location on Buttonwoods Rd.

Had Mr. Colasante been properly vetted, this information would have been discovered. So much for saving Richmond tax dollars, seriously, ask for details!

Mr. Colasante was previously the Chair of the Tax Board of Review in Richmond. During the COVID pandemic, the state meeting requirements did not suit him, so he just ignored them. Is that why he's no longer on that board. Is this the type of person we want running our town?

Maybe someone should ask why it is so important for him to be president of the town council. Is it because he plans on making good on his suggestions that he will retaliate against people in the town hall. People who were just doing their jobs upholding town zoning ordinances banning the use of sawmills in residential neighborhoods.

Mr. Colasante is not the candidate for the people of Richmond RI, he is the candidate for himself! He wants to be in charge because in his mind rules are for other people, not him.

Colasante, Wrong for Richmond!
