Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. For all non-case-related posts, we welcome your comments on the Richland Police Department page. The primary purpose of this site is to present municipal matters of public interest in Richland, Washington to residents, businesses and visitors. We encourage you to submit your questions, comments and concerns, but please note that this moderated online discussion site is a limited public forum. Standards for exclusion, as identified below, will be consistently enforced in a viewpoint neutral manner. We generally post and reply Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. We disclaim liability for external content. Separate from the general purpose stated above, the Richland Police Department may, from time to time, use social media as an investigative tool to aid in criminal apprehension. To the extent that case-specific posts are made for the purpose of generating legitimate tips to further the investigative process, those posts will direct individuals into RPD’s system for gathering the needed information. Once posted, the City reserves the right to delete submissions that contain vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial or religious group. The City also reserves the right to delete comments or posts that are spam or trolling, or that: 1) further personal agendas; 2) include links to other sites; 3) are commercial in nature, including reference to goods or services; 4) are clearly off-topic; 5) advocate illegal activity; 6) support or oppose political candidates or organizations; 7) infringe on copyright or trademark protections; or 8) are outdated. Official City social media sites will include notification to site users that the following content is prohibited and will immediately be removed (viewpoint-neutral perspective):
• Comments not topically related to the specific social media thread;
• Comments advocating for or against political candidates or organizations;
• Profanity (content or images);
• Content that promotes, fosters or perpetuates unlawful discrimination;
• Sexual content or references to sexual content;
• Business solicitations (goods or services);
• Content advocating illegal activity;
• Information posing a public safety and/or security concern;
• Content infringing on copyright or trademark protections;
• Posts that are “spam” or include links to other sites.
