From community leadership to civic engagement, Liberian women continue to make meaningful contributions that uplift families, strengthen institutions, and move our nation forward.

As an organization committed to strengthening the voice and participation of Liberians everywhere, ALCOD recognizes the importance of ensuring that women in the diaspora remain actively engaged in national conversations—including advocacy for dual citizenship and out-of-country voting.

The All Liberia Conference on Dual Citizenship (ALCOD) proudly congratulates its Chairman, Eminent Emmanuel Wettee, on being featured on the cover of New Americans Magazine, November/December 2025 edition, in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Eminent Wettee’s cover recognition reflects his firm leadership and dedication to the successful advocacy for dual citizenship, a historic milestone that has strengthened the bond between Liberia and its global diaspora.

His work through ALCOD has helped amplify diaspora voices, promote civic inclusion, and advance meaningful engagement between Liberians at home and abroad.

As ALCOD builds on this achievement, the organization has entered its second phase of advocacy, out-of-country voting. In December 2025, Eminent Wettee, alongside ULAA officials, other diaspora leaders traveled to Liberia during the Diaspora Annual Return to engage government officials and key stakeholders and formally petition for the inclusion of Liberians abroad in national elections.

Thanks to our Chairman, Eminent Emmanuel Wettee (ALCOD), ULAA officials, current and former officials of the European Federation of Liberian Associations (EFLA), and all our diaspora community leaders for their continued dedication and advocacy for the global Liberian community.

In December 2025, hundreds of Liberians living in the diaspora returned home to Liberia as part of the Diaspora Annual Return 2025, a month-long series of events focused on reconnection, investment, culture, and national development.

The annual return brings together Liberians from the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world, along with non-Liberians, including African Americans, who support and have ties to Liberia. Participants include entrepreneurs, entertainers, advocates, professionals, and community leaders.

Moreover, advocacy was a key focus of this year’s return. Two major diaspora organizations, the All-Liberian Conference on Dual Citizenship (ALCOD) and the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA), agreed to formally coordinate their advocacy for out-of-country voting.

As part of that effort, Eminent Emmanuel S. Wettee, Chairman of ALCOD, and Deacon Alfred Sieh, former Chairman of ULAA’s Board of Directors, met with key government officials, including Professor Thomas Romeo Quioh, Chairman of the House Committee on Elections and Inaugurations; Anthony K. Sengbe, Executive Director of the National Elections Commission; and Erasmus Williams, Coordinator of the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs. During the meeting, a formal diaspora petition on out-of-country voting was presented, as discussions continue around the constitutional, legal, and logistical requirements for diaspora voting.

Two of Liberia’s most influential diaspora organizations, the All-Liberian Conference on Dual Citizenship (ALCOD) and the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA) have agreed to formally coordinate their advocacy for out-of-country voting (OCV), a move advocates believe could significantly advance one of the diaspora’s longest-running democratic goals.

Congratulations to Madam Comfort Itoka for being recognized with the Heart of Service Award at the Diaspora Heritage Award 2025.

Madam Itoka has made a significant and lasting impact through her extensive humanitarian work. She has championed women’s empowerment, promoted literacy, and created supportive learning environments for children and youth.
Her efforts include building, renovating, and furnishing schools, as well as establishing and supporting health clinics in underserved communities in Gyaboland/Garraway.

Her hard work, advocacy, and contribution to the passage of dual citizenship, as well as her continued involvement in the next phase of that effort, working with ALCOD toward Out-of-Country Voting further reflect her dedication to empowering Liberians at home and in the diaspora.

In addition, her active service through the Rotary Club demonstrates her ongoing commitment to strengthening and uplifting her community. Her leadership and compassion continue to transform lives both locally and abroad.

The ALCOD team is live on Focus on Liberia (FOL) discussing the next phase of advocacy: out-of-country voting. This next step directly benefits all of us in the diaspora.

We send about $800 million back home every year, plus the goods we ship, and all the other support we provide. With this level of contribution, Liberians abroad deserve a voice in the national decision-making and the right to vote, no matter where we live.
