• Info, Peer Support, Resources- 24 hours

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving military members, Veterans, first responders, & our families. We are actively supporting our military, first responder, family, and volunteer community online, through a toll-free hotline, and through regional events and activities for the time being. We also provide peer support on a no

n-clinical, non emergency basis, as well as resources and referrals. When we are able to obtain sufficient funds, through donations, sponsorships, and/or grants, we plan to open our dedicated facility here in the Virginia area. Our vision is to establish and operate a 24 hour health, wellness, education, and indoor/outdoor social/activity center, on at least 50 acres of land. This is what makes us different, if not unprecedented: We welcome Heroes of all branches, components, ranks, duty statuses; federal, state, or local levels. We do not discriminate based on time, length, or location of service; wounded in action/line of duty injury status, or disability rating. We offer all services at no charge to the individual or family. In the case of an emergency, please call 9-11. Donation Links:

Well, no one showed up to hike with us today. Shrug. Didn’t know Tunnels to Towers had a hike planned on the W&OD Trail going into DC. Willing to bet there were lines for that one. Really don’t know what to tell you sometimes, except:

The Mission Continues.

Spent the afternoon working in immediate client assistance alongside the Fairfax County Police Department.

Thanks to the Lonesome Dove Equestrian Center and Steel Warriors MC Battlefield Chapter for inviting VRVI to your benefit event in Powhatan.

Shawn and I appreciated the hospitality, friendly conversations, and also all the support for “Cover the VRVI Cruiser” with community support decal donations.

We met several representatives from area American Legions and Auxiliaries.

We also provided our flyers to the Richmond Vet Center in attendance, and enjoyed meeting two new service pups in training from Paws for Purple Hearts Virginia.

What's a cool thing that happened to you over the past week?

For me, it's joining Jeff & Vets Retreat Virginia.

I'm Julia Hutt Herbert, an old-ish Army Vet, served in OIF 2004. I've been rockin & knockin with therapyblahblah since 2015.
Work hard, play hard. The time we've got left should not suck as much as before.

So yeah, my shiney volunteer title is "Events Coordinator"
(hats off to you Jeff, I won't let you down)

what I actually will be doing is:
👊going to as many events that Jeff has conveniently posted at
https://vetsretreatvirginia.org/events/current-future-events
👊launch assist with monthly real world/zoom firepits and hang outs
👊eating ribs with Jeff at Mission BBQ in FredVegas/ Frederickburg for their 9/11 event from 5-7pm
👊talking to you jokers on here

*tweaked w/ AI a pic of me day boots hit the ground in Kuwait, I'm laughin b/c they made us wear flak jackets lols there was NO plates, hadn't been issued 🤣🤣🤣 Julia Herbert

Holiday Weekend Vehicle Travel Safety Tips. Courtesy of VDOT and the Roanoke Sheriff’s Office.

**VDOT Safety Tips**

Here are some tips for safely navigating the roadways during the holiday weekend:

*Buckle up every time and ensure passengers and car seats are secured.
*Be patient and follow the posted speed limit and consider leaving early to allow extra time to reach your destination.
*Put your phone down and don’t drive distracted.
*Identify rest areas in advance and take a break to avoid drowsy driving.
*If an outdoor recreation site is full, never park along road shoulders, as this is not safe for those on the roadway, including emergency response vehicles.
*Use caution as more pedestrians and cyclists are outdoors taking advantage of warm weather.
*Obey the “Move Over” law, requiring motorists to move over one lane, if possible, for all vehicles with flashing lights, flares, or warning signs stopped on the side of the road. If drivers are unable to move over, they should reduce their speed and use caution.

**Please don't let your last summer hooray turn deadly - If you plan to drink,
have a designated driver**.

Be Safe! Be Responsible!
