The annual King Tides are this weekend into early next week. The King Tides are the highest tides of the year, thanks to the unique alignment of the new moon and our position from the Sun (Earth is nearest to the Sun during the winter solstice). The higher of the two daily tides will be from late morning to early afternoon, with the highest being on Monday and Tuesday.

Add to that some large swell. Swell of 17 to 20 feet will arrive later Sunday, and hold through Monday. The combination of the King Tides and larger swell will create enhanced beach dangers, with a potential dangerous surf zone. Safe safe, and stay clear of the surf zone, especially during high tide.

A Freezing Fog Advisory is in place until 10 AM PST 11/28/2020.

Freezing fog can cause black ice to form on roadways, stairs, rails, and sidewalks as tiny, supercooled liquid water droplets in fog freeze instantly on exposed surfaces. Black ice is difficult to see and so particularly dangerous. Drive more slowly and use extra caution while walking.
