Israel Beal is one of the First African American Pioneer Settler and Legend in the City of Redlands in which he that played a significant role in the Development. Born into Slavery in Jefferson County Virginia in 1848, one of 11 Children to Oliver and Elvira Myes Beal. Israe

l Beal gained his freedom after President Abraham Lincoln's "Emancipation Proclamation" in 1863. Army and served under General William Sherman on the famous March to the Sea. He was a Teamster, Builder and a Businessman, he also ran for office in Redlands in District one for Councilman. He is responsible for the Construction of early churches in Redlands, City's Reservoir and the planning the 160 Acre Vineyard, which now makes up of the University of Redlands Campus and the hauling of Lumber to build the Original Big Bear Dam in Big Bear, Ca. He was also skilled in harvesting, planting and moving houses and churches and grading. He graded up to 20 acres which is now known as Crafton Hills. He later in 1865 came out West and was hired by "Myron H. and was employed for 59 years. He Lived and worked in Redlands , but was also well known in the Inland Empire in San Bernardino and Riverside, Ca. Israel Beal was known in the Inland Empire and was the oldest Black Family to settle in the San Bernardino Valley and the City of Redlands, Ca.

1870 Married Martha Embers (Beal) and had seven children three died later on.
1874, he purchased his own 20 acres of land on West Lugonia Avenue a farm ranch that grew to 57 acres where his two story home was built . Israel Beal died at the age of 81 in the San Bernardino County Hospital from a Broken Hip.. Buried in a unmarked grave for 66 years, the Redlands Historical Society raised funds to buy his headstone. He and his Wife Martha Embers Beal were loyal citizens of Redlands for over 60 years.

2010, a City of Redlands Park was named "The Israel Beal Park". The City Council voted Unanimously to Official name the park after it's African-American Pioneer.

2018-June- Special Recognition Certificate by the United States House of Representatives Congressional 31st Congressman Pete Aguilar.

2017 - June - A Memorial Resolution Cerificate Presented by the California State Assembly and signed by 47th Districts State Assemblywoman Eloise Gomez Reyes to Israel Beals Great Grandson Herbert Israel Rona. for his dedication to preserve and make known the legacy of his Great Grandfather Israel Beal. Herbert passed away on June 15, 2017, before he was able to receive the honor. accepted on behalf of his wife Ruby Lean Rona by his Oldest daughter Angela Rona-Ingham-Wilkinson on June 2017.

A 19-year-old college student who was on her way to surprise her family for Thanksgiving break was detained at a Boston airport and later deported despite a federal judge's order blocking her removal, according to her attorney.

Any Lucia Lopez Belloza, who entered the U.S. from Honduras when she was 8 years old, was detained, informed that she had a removal order and then arrested, her attorney said. Hours after her detainment, court documents obtained by ABC News show that a federal judge ordered the government not to remove the 19-year-old from the U.S. and not to transfer her outside of Massachusetts.

CityTalk Celebrates Immaculate Conception Church Volunteers for Exceptional Service in Dinner Hour Ministry

Members of the Dinner Hour Ministry and Food Distribution program at the Immaculate Conception Church, celebrated for their tireless volunteer efforts.

In a heartfelt ceremony, CityTalk recognized the unwavering dedication of volunteers from the Immaculate Conception Church who have significantly contributed to the Dinner Hour Ministry and food distribution program. These committed individuals were honored for their relentless service in aiding over 1,500 individuals weekly, providing essential food supplies to families in need.

Under the leadership of program heads such as Pete Zavala, the volunteers of the Immaculate Conception Church have been the backbone of the food distribution initiative. Zavala remarked, “We appreciate all of our church volunteers. It’s important that we recognize their contribution.” The early stages of the week see volunteers industriously collecting food from various suppliers. By Wednesday, the church becomes a hive of activity as the full team of volunteers meticulously sort, package, and arrange the food supplies in preparation for distribution.

As the day progresses, the church grounds transform into a well-coordinated drive-thru operation, efficiently managed by volunteers like Angela Wilkinson, who noted the program’s growth and the continuous need for more helping hands. “This program has grown quite a bit, especially in recent months. Volunteers are always needed and very much appreciated,” Wilkinson stated.

The Martin Luther King Jr Community Center receives 70 Bags of Food which equal to 700 pounds of Food from the Naval Miltary Station/Newport! CONGRATULATIONS! And a Special Shout out to their Military Naval Station for their Donations!!!❤️

MLK Community Center received a very special donation from the Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island Commissary! Today we got 70 bags of food, each 10 pounds. That's 700 pounds of food! Customers at the Commissary bought a bag for $15 and then those bags were donated to fill our shelves and go home with families in need. These bags were filled with pasta sauces, soup, tuna fish, olive oil, and more.

Thank you Naval Station Newport Commissary for this incredible donation.
