There seems to have been a good bit of concern or conversations about books being banned (from school libraries). I haven't seen nor heard specifics about which books folks are concerned will be banned. I wonder if they are concerned that Johnny the Walrus by Matt Walsh will be banned.

Hi All. I want to give an update on what has taken place recently. I think many of you are aware that I have withdrawn from the RH school board race. I will change the name of this page to better reflect that status and will post items I think should be brought up.
The number of responses I have seen on the items posted here have been heart-warming and I appreciate it.
Campaign for your candidate and support the board. Oh yeah....vote May 17th!

Several people have commented on a bill currently in the legislature. The bill is S.2584-A-Brouk/A.6616-Nolan and is a comprehensive “s*x education bill that would require public schools, including charter schools, to offer comprehensive s*x education to all students in grades K-12 in accordance with state-created criteria”, as reported by New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms (NYCF) Albany Update. Like NYCF, I believe this bill is unacceptable. It is again government overreach, substituting “the state’s judgment for the judgment of local school districts” and moving into an area that is the responsibility of parents. In addition, I recommend you contact your state representatives to voice your opinion about this bill. While on recess after the budget process, it may be best to contact local offices. In the Red Hook CSD, Dutchess County-Assemblyman Cahill’s office is 845-338-9590 (Albany 518-455-4436); Columbia County-Assemblywoman Barrett’s office is 518-828-1961 (Albany 518-455-5177). State Senator contacts are trickier because of redistricting, the recent court decision to invalidate the redistricting, and no current direction on the subject. Old district lines: Dutchess County-Senator Serino’s office is 845-229-0106 (Albany 518-455-2945); Columbia County-Senator Jordan’s office is 518-371-2751 (Albany 518-455-2381). New districting lines: Dutchess and Columbia Counties-Senator Hinchey’s office is 845-331-3810 (Albany 518-455-2350). I hope this helps in your contacts, and when in doubt, call ‘em all!!
