Question of the Month: Are "flushable" wipes and grease okay to put down my drains?
The short answer is: NO.
The slightly longer answer: Flushable wipes and paper towels do not break up after being flushed like toilet paper does, which allows them to grab on to pipe ends and other imperfections, creating stoppages. Fats, oils, and grease also cause problems as these items cool and begin to solidify in pipes causing major treatment problems and stoppages. Dispose of flushable wipes by throwing them in the trash can.
Other items that should not be flushed: Feminine products/applicators, clothes, toys, needles of any kind, or prescription medicines.
