Most ski resorts are open off season. You can drive within .3 miles of the top of Ludlow mountain at Vermont’s Okemo resort, then walk to the summit. There’s also the option to take a ski lift to the top, great for fall leaf peeping!

We travel all over New England and the surrounding states, but today I just took my ebike down a gravel road in the about 5 miles from home. Stunning scenery in our own backyard!

The Cascades in North Adams MA is a nice short hike to a rather impressive waterfall. Highly recommended. Expect to get wet feet if you want a closeup photo of the waterfall.

Visited Wilson Castle in Proctor today. Unfortunately it was closed. Thanks Google! Fortunately we were given an impromptu tour by a very friendly young man who works there. We loved it. It’s an amazing place that’s still being fixed up and restored.

Privately owned and still in the family who bought it in 1939, it’s a museum that has recently experienced a major revival of interest due to people interested in the paranormal. Opens to the public Memorial Day. Recommend if you are in the Rutland Vermont area.

Middlebury, Vermont is a great town to visit anytime. This visit focused on the waterfall and the Marble Works area, historic buildings now housing quirky shops and cafes.

Sabbaday Falls in Waterville Valley New Hampshire is a great place to visit. Kid and dog friendly. Off the Kancamagus highway (Route 112), it’s a gorgeous drive any time of year.

Not New England, but close. Buttermilk Falls near Long Lake in the NY Adirondack mountains. Nice short walk to easy access.
