Leading from the Front
students with Company C, Basic Officer Course 3-25, The Basic School (TBS), carry out a platoon raid during the Military Operations on Urban Terrain (MOUT) portion of a field exercise.
The purpose of the simulated platoon attacks was to introduce Marines to the fundamentals of MOUT training, evaluate their leadership in high-stress environments, and develop them into confident leaders. All officers, regardless of their Primary Mission Occupational Specialty, are required to go through TBS to learn how to lead a rifle platoon in offensive and defensive operations.

in 1847, U.S. Marines added to their legacy at the Battle of Chapultepec, a pivotal moment in the Mexican-American War.
Following a strategic landing at Veracruz, U.S. forces advanced toward Mexico City, where Chapultepec Castle stood as a formidable obstacle on the way to Mexico City. On September 13th, after a heavy bombardment, U.S. Marines spearheaded the assault on the castle, displaying unwavering courage and determination in the face of intense enemy fire. Their valiant actions were instrumental in breaching the defenses, contributing significantly to the overall victory.
The Marines suffered several dozen casualties during the engagement. The battle remains a testament to the Marines' unwavering commitment and battlefield prowess, helping to cement their reputation as a tenacious fighting organization, while contributing to the eventual fall of Mexico City.

Today we remember.
On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken in a single act of terror. In the days, months, and years that followed, Americans stood united in grief, resilience, and resolve.
We honor the victims, their families, and the countless first responders who ran toward danger. We also remember the service members who answered the nation’s call in the years that followed, carrying the fight forward.
We will never forget. Semper Fidelis.
