Washington approved an average 22.2% increase for individual health insurance premiums in 2027. What’s driving the surge? Higher healthcare costs, driven by inflation, drug price increases, labor shortages, consolidation among healthcare providers, and healthy people foregoing insurance due to the cost, leaving a sicker "risk pool" needing more care. We need universal health care ASAP!

Scott, a trauma surgeon and health care researcher at the University of Washington, says offering loans through insurers “seems to be a restructuring of who they owe the debt to, and that is the opposite of a solution.” Learn why this is a bad idea!

In a growing movement for states to charge large employers whose workers rely on Medicaid instead of employer-sponsored health insurance, New Jersey has become the first state to enact such a fee. Supporters argue that profitable companies should help cover the public costs of insuring their workforce, while opponents warn it could discourage hiring of lower-income workers and create unintended consequences. What do you think of this kind of policy? Let us know in the comments.
