On this Earth Day I am so proud to be working for a company that is truly committed to conservation, education and rescue. SeaWorld has been involved in over 40,000 animal rescues always with the goal of re-release back to the wild, their conservation fund has provided grants to over 1200 organizations with focuses on species research, habitat protection, conservation education and animal rescue and rehabilitation. And the icing on top of all of that is the opportunity to work with these 5 beautiful endangered Asian elephants! Happy Earth Day!

Good Morning Friends! I meant to share this weeks ago, but time got away from me. I just wanted to repost it on our page in case you missed the post from our friends at BRWC. I know many of you had the pleasure of meeting Cotton (now going by Bear :) ) in person at your schools, libraries, Hail to the Trail and Loudoun County Fair to name a few so I thought you would be happy to know that he is still an educational ambassador and now you can see him in his habitat at BRWC's Wildlife Walk!
And for those fans of Jasper who loved his videos and watching his progress at Wildlife Ambassadors from a shy fox to a confident animal who learned to voluntarily participate in his own health care with us ( crate training, nail trims and grooming), I could not be more excited that his journey as an ambassador will continue and now you will able to meet him in person on the Wildlife Walk.
For any of us, whether we are zookeepers, educators, rehabilitators or veterinarians, the top goal is providing the absolute best life with the highest level of husbandry for the animals who are entrusted in our care. It gives me great joy that these two, whom I was so bonded to, will live out their very best lives with the wonderful folks at Blue Ridge Wildlife Center!
I hope you'll visit them both and tell them hello from me!

Wild parrots in our backyard! While they are not native, it’s still very cool to enjoy my coffee with parrots in the background! This pair is here everyday. Several species of parrots thrive in Florida- most got loose during hurricanes or were introduced here.

The Spix macaw, a bird that had once vanished in the wild, is now thriving in its South American homeland after a successful breeding programme

World Parrot Day- a chance to recognize some of the most incredible, highly intelligent animals I have ever worked with and certainly among my most favorite. Social, beautiful, diverse and endangered, our ambassador parrots have connected with thousands of people over the years, bringing the plight of parrots worldwide, to the forefront. Being part of the solution can be as easy as looking for the green tree frog when you are shopping. Sustainably sourced products that do not destroy valuable rain forest habitat for these birds.

We had 4 wonderful assemblies yesterday at Potowmack elementary and a first for me in my 25 years of outreach- sheltering in place for the possible tornado! As you can see Cotton was happy to follow the rules but Oliver was unphased by the warnings 😏 All was fine and we finished out our shows for a fantastic group of kids!

Our recent Earth Day visit to Lincoln Elementary! Thanks Lincoln for sharing with us, it was a great event! Our Ambassadors encouraged students to help share ways we can protect our wild neighbors including not using pesticides, shopping for products with the green tree frog and giving wild neighbors space!
