Emmy Rossum, Michael Imperioli, Rosemarie DeWitt & Ariana Greenblatt Join Grace Van Patten In Hanna Gray Organschi’s ‘Rubber Hut’

EXCLUSIVE: Emmy Rossum (The Crowded Room), Michael Imperioli (Memory of a Killer), Rosemarie DeWitt (Untamed), and Ariana Greenblatt (Now You See Me: Now You Don’t) are among those set to star opposite Grace Van Patten in Rubber Huts, the debut feature of Hanna Gray Organschi, which we scooped in March.

Character details are being kept under wraps, with production underway in Rhode Island. Other new additions to the cast include Chris Bauer (His & Hers), Fina Strazza (John Proctor Is the Villain), Fisher Stevens (Succession), and Ricky Staffieri (The Bear).

Set in 1992 Rhode Island, Rubber Hut follows an entrepreneurial ex-Pan Am stewardess who opens a drive-thru condom kiosk in her Italian Catholic town. Overnight, Emanuella (Van Patten) becomes a lightning rod in the community, a hero to local teens and an unlikely threat to her tight-knit community.

Rubber Hut is produced by Elizabeth Woodward for Willa (The Voice of Hind Rajab, The Fence), Tara Sheffer for Stone Fruit Productions (A Lien), and Gray Organschi’s Unlikeable Woman Productions, in association with Desmar, The Godmother, Shortwave, and Madhouse Films. Exec producers are Anne Carey, Jason Michael Berman, Mari Nakachi, Ahmed Ezz, D.D. Wigley, Naomi Despres, Michèle Marshall, Charlie Traisman, Katherine Romans, Heather Feshbach, and Andrea Ajemian. Andrew Alexander, Mark Hollinger, Alexandra Kordas, Meryl Metni, Monika Parekh, Lisa and Matt Sonsini are co-EPs on the film cast by Matthew Glasner CSA.

Participating in all three Sundance Institute Labs — Screenwriters, Directors, and Producers — Rubber Hut was also selected for the Film Independent Fast Track, NYU Purple List, and Gotham Week Project Market, among other showcases.

A Golden Globe nominee best known for her nine-season run as Fiona Gallagher on Showtime’s Shameless, Rossum most recently appeared in Apple TV’s The Crowded Room and will next star in and exec produce the Hulu series Furious, written by Liz Meriwether. She is repped by WME, Mgmt Entertainment, and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.

Imperioli was recently seen starring alongside Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue an can currently be seen in Fox’s series Memory of a Killer opposite Patrick Dempsey. Upcoming, he has Ben Shirinian’s The Housewife, where he stars opposite Naomie Watts and Tye Sheridan. He is repped by Gersh and Anonymous Content.

For DeWitt, recent projects include Netflix’s limited series Untamed, opposite Eric Bana, and the third and final season of the S*x and the City revival And Just Like That… She’ll next be seen starring alongside Andy Garcia in his latest directorial feature, Diamond, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. She is repped by CAA, Mgmt Entertainment, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.

Coming off the Lionsgate threequel Now You See Me: Now You Don’t — joining legacy cast Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Isla Fisher — Greenblatt’s also known for her work in projects like Barbie, Fear Street: Prom Queen, and Borderlands. She is repped by CAA, Untitled, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

INDIE FILM "RUBBER HUT" ROLLING IN RHODE ISLAND

Providence, RI -- The Rhode Island Film & TV Office is pleased to announce that writer/director Hanna Gray Organschi will commence production on her debut feature film, Rubber Hut, in the Ocean State this week. This includes the cities of Cranston and Warwick.

Set in Rhode Island circa 1992 and inspired by a true story, Rubber Hut follows an entrepreneurial ex-Pan Am flight attendant who opens a drive-thru condom kiosk in her conservative community. Overnight, she becomes a lightning rod, a hero to local teens and an unlikely threat to the tight-knit world around her. The film stars Grace Van Patten (Tell Me Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox) and marks a celebration of female driven storytelling both in front of and behind the camera.

Rubber Hut participated in all three Sundance Labs, including Screenwriters, Directors, and Producers, and was also selected for Film Independent's Fast Track, NYU's Purple List, and the Gotham Week Project Market. The proof-of-concept short film, F*ck That Guy, was executive produced by Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X), Riva Marker (Is God Is) and David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada), won the Grand Jury Award at Proof Film Festival and Best Live Action Short at the deadCenter Film Festival, earning an Oscar qualifying run.

Rubber Hut will be produced by Elizabeth Woodward for Willa, Tara Sheffer for Stone Fruit Productions and co-produced by Alex Berard (My Kind of People). Anne Carey (The Persian Version) and Jason Michael Berman (Highest 2 Lowest, Air) serve as executive producers.

Judy, Scott and myself are very excited to be working with this outstanding talent behind the camera and those in front of it. The movie stars Grace Van Patten (Tell Me Lies, Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox) as Emanuella. The crew is top-notch and everyone is working together with joy. Inspired by true events, this is a strong female driven story about independence, freedom, having a vision and perseverance. We love this show. The Roy W. Dean Grant for Summer 2026 is now open for submissions—inviting filmmakers with bold, meaningful stories to take the next step toward funding and completing their projects.

For 35 years, the Roy W. Dean Grants have supported independent films that are unique and make a contribution to society, helping bring powerful stories to audiences that might not otherwise be seen. The grant is presented by From the Heart Productions, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting filmmakers.

Open to documentaries, narrative features, short films, and web series, the grant supports projects that are socially impactful and budgeted at $500,000 or less. Students are encouraged to apply.
