Registration for the June 29 food pick-up event is open! These free meal kits include breakfast and lunch foods with fresh fruit, vegetables, and milk, and may be picked up from Marbury High School or Prattville High School for children 18 years or younger. Registration is required per event, but children do not have to reside in the county or be enrolled in Autauga County Schools to participate.

🌧️ Weather Update for Summer Learning Families 🌧️

Due to forecasted weather conditions and the potential for hazardous road conditions across Autauga County, all K–5 Summer Learning programs will be canceled on Thursday, June 18.

The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority. Please note that this canceled day will not be made up.

Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe as the weather moves through our area. We will continue to share updates as needed.

⛈️ Due to the threat of inclement weather on Thursday, we have made the decision to move our Summer Feeding Distribution to Wednesday, June 17.

✅ Distribution times will remain the same.

What a GREAT first week of Summer Learning!

Our students have been busy growing their skills all season long with our “CULTIVATE” agricultural-themed program! This week’s highlights include:

📚 Academic reading & math enrichment to fight the summer slide ARI / The Alabama Reading Initiative
✍️ A special visit from local author Jackie Nix Modern Farms Book - Moo Maven publishing
🎨 Creative art fun with Pzazz P'zazz Art Studio
🏊 Water safety lessons with our friends at the Prattville YMCA

🌱 Celebrating Student Research in Agricultural Education! 🌱

We are proud to recognize the outstanding work of Billingsley students who have recently completed research projects as part of their FFA Agriscience Fair experience!

👏 Abigail Longcrier conducted a study titled “From Policy to Practice”, exploring how district leaders in a rural Alabama school system perceive agriculture and agricultural literacy. Her research highlights the important connections between agriculture, student learning, and workforce development—and how leadership perspectives can shape support for agricultural education.

🍎 Adriana Rasberry and Colton Lawrence partnered on a project titled “Food for Thought”, examining how child nutrition staff in rural Title I schools view agriculture’s role in food service. Their work sheds light on how agriculture influences food sourcing, menu planning, and student exposure to agricultural concepts in schools where agriculture is central to the community.

✅ All three students have submitted their research abstracts to the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE) Western Region Conference, a national organization supporting agricultural research and education.

These students conducted their work under the guidance of Dr. William Norris of New Mexico State University, demonstrating initiative, dedication, and a commitment to real-world learning.

If selected, they will present their findings in Honolulu, Hawaii this September—an incredible opportunity to share their work on a national stage!
