We wrapped up our Pownal Principals for the Day this past week, with Principals Aren Krawcyzk and Mark Shoestock on Tuesday, and Principals Milie Mattison and Eliza Wynn on Friday! Each of these days was special: Tuesday was our last Pastries with the Principal for the year, and Friday was our Field Day/BBQ/6th Grade Kickball game! The principals made sure to help out with each of these big events, deliver treats to teachers, celebrate summer birthdays, and enjoy the snacks that come with the job! Thank you, principals, for keeping our school safe, respectful, and responsible!

Unfortunately, our 6th-grade Principals for the Day couldn't carry the 6th-grade kickball team to victory - another "w" for the faculty and staff! Better luck next year!

On Wednesday, Pownal Elementary students were visited by Steven Sams and David Johnson, pitchers for the North Adams Steeplecats baseball team!

Steven and David talked with students about the importance of academics at the collegiate level, and balancing schoolwork with athletics.

We are grateful for our yearly visit from the Steeplecats organization and their words of wisdom to our students!

Field Day 2026 has been a blast, and it's not quite done yet! We had beautiful (though a bit hot) weather this morning! ☀️

Last week, fourth grade students visited Hildene in Manchester, VT!

Students explored the estate grounds, saw honey bees up close and personal, and spent some time feeding and petting baby goats!

It was a great day!

Come see students perform this Friday, June 5th at 6:00 in the Pownal Elementary School gym! Admission is free and popcorn, candy and beverages will be available for purchase for just $1. This event is open to the entire community, and it's a family-friendly event, so bring all the kids, grandparents and friends to enjoy the show!!

Principals Jenave Dolle and Sreeja Patel led the Panthers yesterday, making sure the school ran smoothly and without any issues! They delivered blue ticket certificates, birthday pencils, and treats for teachers. They celebrated "Tea Time" with our kindergarteners who represented famous people, they kept our halls cleaned, enjoyed lunch with their friends, and made sure that Mr. Thomas and Ms. Whalen were able to head home early for a long weekend! We're so thankful for the hard work of these ladies to keep us safe, respectful, and responsible! 🐾

This past Wednesday, Pownal Elementary 5th and 6th grade students pushed themselves TO THE LIMIT at the annual SVSU 5th/6th grade track meet at Mount Anthony Union High School!

Pownal ALSO took home this year’s Sportsmanship Award!
