PS21's free end-of-summer festival is back, and this year, it's bringing 100 self-playing drums.



Commonground returns to PS21 : Center for Contemporary Performance September 4–7 with world premieres, local artists, and plenty of activities for the whole family across the PS21 landscape.

This year's lineup features:
🥁 SUPERDRUM X: 100 self-playing drums by Dutch musical collective Touki Delphine, with a different live drummer each night (world premiere)
🎭 FIELD: a new PS21-commissioned performance by OBIE award-winning artist Andrew Schneider that gently removes reality from its normal and turns it inside out (world premiere)
🎨 DIVE BARN: Sayer Mansfield's showcase of local dance and music

Each day on the lawn: West African food from Chez Diarra, free ice cream, apple picking, lawn games, and good times. 🍎🍦

Experience Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece, Psycho, like never before: outdoors, on the side of a historic building at Garner Arts Center.

On Saturday, August 29, GARNER Arts Center invites you to step into the world of Hitchcock with an immersive experience earlier in the day, featuring an art scavenger hunt, costume contest, themed dinner and drinks.

Then, at 8pm, settle in under the stars for an outdoor screening of Psycho at GARNER’s 14-acre campus, a former 19th-century textile mill transformed into a vibrant cultural arts center.

Now in its 19th year, Art Studio Views returns September 5–6, 2026, 11am–5pm, inviting visitors to explore private studios throughout Northern Dutchess and Southern Columbia Counties, meet the artists, and experience their creative spaces firsthand.

Featured media include painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and more. Admission is free and open to the public. Pets are not permitted.

Without Bill Hanley, there may have been no sound of Woodstock.

The Last Seat in the House, written and directed by John Kane, is a documentary exploring the life and legacy of Bill Hanley, the pioneering sound engineer known as the "Father of Festival Sound." Best remembered for creating the sound of Woodstock in 1969, Hanley revolutionized live music by introducing clarity and scale to concerts at a time when large audiences were thought impossible to manage.

The film screens at Upstate Films' Orpheum Theatre on August 15. Filmmaker John Kane and Bill Hanley will introduce the film, followed by a post-screening Q&A moderated by Greg Gattine of Radio Woodstock.

For one weekend only, the artists behind the Saugerties Artists Studio Tour open the doors to their studios.

The Saugerties Artists Studio Tour is a group of local artists who team up to create a weekend catered to everyone involved, from the artists themselves to local businesses, residents, and visitors who get to discover how much creative talent Saugerties has.

You'll get a peek into studios, see finished pieces next to works still in progress, and get to actually chat with the artists about how they work, what inspires them, and their personal journeys as creators.

Expect to find painters working in oils, acrylics, watercolor, inks, and digital media; collage artists, printmakers, illustrators, photographers, videographers, and multimedia folks; sculptors working with steel, reclaimed industrial materials, and natural stone; ceramic artists making everything from everyday pottery to expressive sculptural pieces; and craftspeople building handcrafted furniture out of fine hardwoods and reclaimed barn wood.
