After graduating from SKHS I married my high school sweetheart Trish. I began my fire service in 1990 volunteering for South Kitsap Fire and Rescue. In 1995 I was hired with SKFR and continued to serve our community for 28 more years. Trish and I have 4 children, and 11 grandchildren. We are very proud to have raised our family in the South Kitsap community. Three of our kids work in public servic
e and the youngest is in college. I retired in June 2024 after working my way through the ranks to Division Chief. With the knowledge, experience and education I gained while serving in the fire service, I have a unique understanding of the complexities of the fire industry. As your Fire Commissioner for South Kitsap Fire and Rescue, I plan to build a framework supported by 4 pillars that I believe are important:
COMMUNITY and the fire department both need to support and be involved with
each other. I intend to bridge the gap between the community and the Fire
Commission in order to promote collaboration and transparency. TRANSPARENCY gives the community the opportunity to understand the what, why,
and how through a clear lens process to build trust in the direction the fire department must go. TRUST and confidence must be earned, built and maintained within the community. This will create a successful relationship with the South Kitsap fire service and the
community. RELATIONSHIPS thrive on hard, open, and honest conversations which build
momentum towards success together with the community and the fire department. As your next Fire Commissioner, we will integrate these pillars to provide professional service to all of our families in South Kitsap. I will work tirelessly to build a healthy community relationship and responsive South Kitsap fire service.
