Notice of a Special Meeting by the City Council

PORT ORCHARD, WA [June 17, 2026] – Pursuant to Port Orchard Municipal Code 2.04.030, three of the City of Port Orchard City Council have called for a special meeting of the Council. Notice is hereby given that the City Council will be holding a Special meeting. This special meeting is being noticed in accordance with RCW 42.30.080. The meeting will be taking place at the following location and time:

McCormick Village Park Splash Pad

The City of Port Orchard has temporarily closed the Splash Pad at McCormick Village Park until further notice.

Current water quality levels are not where they need to be, and our team is working diligently to resolve the issue and restore proper operation.

We will reopen the Splash Pad as soon as everything is functioning safely and correctly. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Port Orchard City Council will meet at 6:30 tonight at City Hall for a work study session. Topics on the agenda include fundraising consultant contract, townhall meeting recap, special events, and public restrooms.

HEAT ADVISORY

When temperatures rise, so does our water use.

With Summer finally upon us, the City of Port Orchard wants everyone to stay cool, stay safe, and enjoy the sun.

During this time, we also encourage everyone to be especially mindful of their water use. This could mean only watering in the early mornings and late evenings, taking shorter showers, or turning off the faucet when it’s not in use. These small efforts add up, allowing our reservoirs to replenish quicker and benefitting every individual in the community.

This notice, required by POMC 5.94.050(3), is to allow citizens to provide written comments regarding how allowing the special event will impact their property, business, or quality of life. A reminder to travelers who use Sedgwick Road (State Route 160) to plan for a four-month detour.
By 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, Sedgwick Road will close around the clock to all travelers. The closure will be between Blackberry Hill Lane Southeast and Long Lake Road Southeast.
The closure allows contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation to build a new bridge over Salmonberry Creek. The work is part of a project that will remove a culvert at the creek.
