There are many different ways people step into supportive roles for youth in foster care. Some are relatives, some are licensed caregivers and some are simply people who feel called to show up in a meaningful way. What matters most is creating environments where young people feel safe, valued and supported as they grow.

Sometimes it starts smaller than people expect. Learning, asking questions, or even simply understanding what youth in care experience can be a meaningful first step.

I am a former licensed foster parent and a current adoptive parent with a deep passion for supporting children and families. Four years ago, I began my professional journey with KVC Missouri as a Licensing and Placement Specialist, where I gained firsthand experience guiding families through the foster care process. Today, I serve as a Supervisor over Licensing, continuing to help individuals take meaningful steps toward becoming resource parents.
