Poolesville Town Meeting TONIGHT (Monday 5/18) at 7:00PM at Town Hall!

(Town Hall photo chosen to send cool thoughts your way!)

Tonight's Town Meeting will kick off with a Public Hearing on minor adjustments to our Overlay Zone Development Standards. According to the Planning Commission, the adjustments are needed to address the ability of residential owners living in the Village Overlay Zone to add small decks to their homes. Read the amendment here:

Next up will be an introduction to our newly-formed Montgomery County Police Central Business District team. As you probably have noticed, we have asked our MCPD colleagues for an increased presence in and around Poolesville, especially in our downtown commercial zone. Our collective advocacy has helped create one of the most responsive and community-oriented police networks the town has ever had. We are thankful for their partnership and ongoing communications.

Agenda Item #5 will be a presentation by our outstanding D15 delegate, David Fraser-Hidalgo. Putting politics aside, David has been a major fighter (and fund-driver) for all things Poolesville and the Western County region. At tonight's meeting, DFH will break down the battles fought during the recent assembly in Annapolis, especially regarding steep utility price increases and his efforts, as Chair of the Energy Subcommittee, to push back on them. To his credit, David has advocated for Poolesville and our surrounding agricultural region for many years and knows how to drive tax dollars back into the community. The Commissioners will deliver our usual updates from the various committees they serve on. We will also vote on the new addition to our Parks Board. We thank Gayle Partain for her dedicated efforts and expertise during her tenure on the board, and we also thank all of our volunteers for contributing their time and energy to the Town.

The Commissioners will also address, under "Old Business," the proposed Ordinance (No. 230) that establishes minimal public communication standards for the conduct of appointed town officials (the Town charter already covers elected official conduct).
