We are a part of the NJSFWC & a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. On September 12th the Suburban Woman’s Club of Pompton Plains held it’s annual Welcome Back Brunch. Members and guests enjoyed a wonderful breakfast, catching up from summer break and the start of a new club year. Thank you to all the members for your contributions of delicious food and beverages. We look forward to a new year of service and friendship!!

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month 💜🩵

This month is an important reminder for women to know their bodies, recognize changes, keep up with recommended screenings and checkups, and speak with a healthcare provider when something doesn’t feel right.

We honor those currently facing gynecologic cancer, celebrate survivors, remember those we have lost, and stand beside the families who support them.

💜 Awareness matters. Knowledge empowers. Early detection can save lives.

Twelve backpacks were filled with school supplies for the Special State Project, Embrella. The Suburban Woman’s Club of Pompton Plains donated nine of the backpacks and the Past Presidents Club of the 11th District donated three of the backpacks for this project.

Purple Heart Day on August 7 commemorates the creation of the oldest American military decoration for military merit. The Purple Heart honors the men and women who are of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
General George Washington created the Badge of Merit in 1782. Washington intended the honor to be presented to soldiers for "any singularly meritorious action." Until Washington's 200th birthday, the Purple Heart persisted as a Revolutionary War footnote. Through the efforts of General Douglas MacArthur, the U.S. War Department created the Order of the Purple Heart.
Today the medal bears a bust of George Washington and his coat of arms.
It is estimated that nearly 1.9 million service members have earned Purple Hearts since its creation. It is the oldest U.S. military honor still bestowed upon service members today. Until 1944, the Purple Heart recognized service members' commendable actions as well. Then in 1944, the requirements limited the award to only those wounded or killed in combat.
