'Twas the night before preschool,
kiddos tucked into bed.
Kisses were given,
"I love you"s were said.

Their lunch bags and "pack-packs"
were ready to go
and the first little outfit
was laid out- just so.

The grownups who love them
then turned out the light
and looked at each other
with a wee bit of fright.

Where did the time go?
How could this be?!
Our baby's grown up…
It's too fast for me!

They took a deep breath,
And choked back their tears
But knew that tomorrow would be
Riddled with fears.

How will he do?
What will she play?
How much will he eat?
Ugh. I just want to stay!

But fear not Moms and Dads,
because all will be well.
We love those sweet kiddos.
(You can probably tell.)

We're honored to have you,
you chose us with care.
We want you to know
we'll always be there.

With love and support
for your kiddo and you,
we'll guide you right through it-
we know it's all new!

So come in tomorrow
with a HAPPY heart,
because there's no better place
For this journey to start!

Break into the fun and fulfilling field of Early Childhood Education with a PAID long-term internship at Hop, Skip & Jump Preschool. With support and guidance from our team of educators, you'll gain knowledge, skills, and valuable insight into the amazing world of child development. You'll spend your days playing, laughing, learning, and growing with the cutest and funniest little humans and forming meaningful relationships with their families. As if that weren't enough- by this time next year, you'll already be a semester into pursuing your degree with a grant-funded scholarship! It's what we call a win-win!
Please note, there is only one opening for this role and as stated it is a long-term position. Candidates should express interest via email without delay. Please provide a detailed summary of your ECE experiences if any, your goals, and why you are the perfect candidate for this internship. Two references- personal and professional, required. A bit about us for those who aren't familiar:
Hop, Skip & Jump Preschool is located in the heart of downtown Plymouth. Nestled behind "the big stone church" and John Carver Inn, our school truly is a hidden gem. We are a school-year program (closed for summer) offering several enrollment options for children ages 3-5.
We pride ourselves on our reputation for advancing students who are prepared socially, emotionally, and academically for kindergarten and beyond. It speaks volumes that administrators, counselors, and teachers (specifically kindergarten teachers!) within our district seek out enrollment at our school- a true testament to how amazing our program is!
We firmly believe in the "Whole-Child Approach" to learning which abandons narrowly-defined parameters of academic achievement and instead views a child's development as a vast and intricate landscape, wholly unique from any other's. We know that all children want to learn and are driven by their innate sense of curiosity. By providing hands-on experiential learning opportunities within their interests, we are facilitating that process and ultimately helping each child to discover their gifts and reach for their potential. Our curriculum is designed to nurture *all* areas of development, not just literacy, science, and math! Art, dramatic play, music and movement, sensory exploration and FREE PLAY are essential to healthy development. These are often areas where, for the first time ever, a child can shine in their own right, promoting a sense of pride and accomplishment- the basis for which becomes their self-worth. Our school day is full of these fun and vibrant opportunities!

In addition to these areas of development, at Hop, Skip & Jump we place social-emotional learning at the cornerstone of our curriculum, masterfully weaving it into each and every lesson. Our students develop the skills they need to identify and communicate their needs effectively, navigate conflicts of all kinds, and advocate for themselves and others when necessary, promoting strong self-esteem and leadership skills. In helping each individual student establish these skills, we create a classroom environment where students can thrive and friendships can flourish.

Hop, Skip & Jump Preschool is excited to share that we have created a Paid Student Internship opportunity for our 2020-2021 school year!

Under the direction and guidance of our amazing Director, you'll gain valuable insight, practical knowledge, and documented experience for your future career in Early Childhood Education.

Your Role:
-Assist Director and Teachers with preparing materials and lessons plans
-Connect with students, engage their curiosity, learn to find the "teachable moment" in everything
-Help with daily classroom routine
-Perform typical classroom management tasks such as organizing, cleaning, sanitizing surfaces
-Engage with parents and caregivers
-When you're ready- plan and lead your own activities!

What You'll Gain:
-A deep understanding of Best Practices in Early Childhood Education
-Knowledge of EEC Rules & Regs
-Classroom Management skills
