🔥 TRAINING ALERT 🔥

The Pleasant Hill Fire Department will be conducting a house fire training exercise tomorrow, May 28, at 1355 NE 52 Ct. beginning around 1 p.m.

If you're in the area near Shadyview Blvd & University Ave., you may notice activity and smoke. No need to be alarmed! This is a planned training exercise.

We do NOT anticipate any road or lane closures.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible mothers out there, especially Chief Lee, Firefighter/Paramedic Vriezelaar, who is serving our community while on shift today, Administrative Assistant Cathy Rankin, and Medical Director Dr. Lewis.

Today, we also want to recognize the mothers whose children are away from home serving and protecting others. Thank you for the love, support, and sacrifices you make behind the scenes every day.

The Pleasant Hill Fire Department recently acquired the final component from Skeeter Emergency Vehicles to complete the upgrade to R447.

This updated platform allows firefighters to use water more conservatively and efficiently on grass fires through the use of the high-pressure system. The new skid unit also improves our ability to access and remove patients from hard-to-reach areas by utilizing the integrated patient platform for safe and effective transport.

E432 crew from C-Shift assisted on a large apartment fire on the Southside of Des Moines yesterday afternoon. Great teamwork by all involved, and our thoughts go out to the residents who were displaced by this incident.

We absolutely love anytime we get to interact with our future firefighters! Think this group had a great time getting dropped off at school in of our units. A great day for sure, even though one of them still wants to be a police officer! Now's your chance Pleasant Hill Police Department!

Beginning this week, the Pleasant Hill Fire Department will be piloting a new initiative aimed at increasing community safety and visibility during peak traffic hours.

Select personnel have been assigned to assist with traffic monitoring and speed enforcement in high-complaint areas throughout the city. This program is designed to help address ongoing concerns related to speeding in residential corridors and school zones.

Earlier today, one of our firefighters was observed conducting radar enforcement while staged along the road. The assignment followed standard morning readiness procedures, including a quick briefing… along with 2 chocolate sprinkle donuts and a cup of coffee to ensure peak operational performance.

Early observations suggest the transition has been surprisingly smooth, and some personnel have even noted that this assignment feels a bit easier than their typical fireground duties.

Initial feedback has been positive, and crews report the ability to monitor traffic while remaining ready to respond to emergency calls if needed.

We appreciate the continued support from our community as we explore new ways to enhance public safety.

The Pleasant Hill Fire Department would like to extend a huge thank you to our amazing community for coming out this morning to our annual Easter Egg Hunt!

We had a great turnout, and it was awesome to see so many smiling faces as kids gathered eggs and candy.

Thank you to all the families and children who joined us—we hope you had as much fun as we did!
