The following is a joint statement from the Gateway School District and Penn Hills School District:
The safety of both districts’ students, staff, families, and community members remains our highest priority. In light of a potential threat made via the Safe2Say app, administrators from both school districts have agreed to restrict attendance of tonight’s game to only players’ family members. No other community members, including students, band members, or cheerleaders, will be allowed to attend.
We have been working with our law enforcement and school security partners to ensure the safety of everyone who attends this game. We realize this is an unfortunate turn of events for everyone who enjoys Friday night football, but we believe this is the appropriate approach to take in light of this potential threat. Livestream links will be made available on district social media channels.
We ask everyone attending tonight’s game to remain alert, follow directions from school officials and law enforcement, and immediately report any concerning activity. Please do not share rumors or unverified information on social media.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates if circumstances change. Thank you for your cooperation, patience, and partnership in keeping our school communities safe.
