Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company 100% Volunteer The Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company (BPVFC) is comprised of all volunteer members from many different walks of life.

Most volunteer firefighters also have regular jobs. We are salespeople, bankers, teachers, and electricians, to name a few. We leave our families and sometimes our jobs, to put our lives on the line when disasters strike. There is no monetary compensation or reward involved. We do it to help our fellow residents of Bethel Park and for the satisfaction of knowing that we make a difference in the li

ves of our neighbors. We maintain 3 fire stations with a total of 10 vehicles and a specialized rescue trailer. The stations are located on Brightwood Road, Clifton Road and Milford Drive. The BPVFC holds drills 3 times a month on Monday nights. We train at various locations in and around Bethel Park. A new member is required to attend essentials of fire fighting classes that average 180 hours in their first 2 years. Other classes that our firefighters take include Hazmat Operations, Emergency Vehicle Operations, and Rapid Intervention Team. When the municipal emergency dispatchers receive a call for the fire department they set off pagers to alert the firefighters about the emergency. Volunteers will drive to the nearest fire station. They may use blue lights as a courtesy to get to the station quickly. Depending on the nature and size of the incident, we may call in mutual aid from other communities. We also provide the same help to other communities in the area. BPVFC responds to over 600 emergencies annually.

New this fall: the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company is launching our first-ever Citizens Fire Academy.

Five hands-on sessions starting September 10, 2026. Learn firefighting operations, search and rescue, vehicle extrication, fire prevention, and more, with live demonstrations along the way.

Thursdays 6:30 to 9:30 PM, plus one Saturday session. Open to Bethel Park residents 18 and up. No experience required.

Our members spent a few hours this morning ensuring all of our apparatus are in a shape fit to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our country. A few important items to note for our fleet:

Introducing Engine 2 — our newest addition will be making her community debut, leading the apparatus in the parade.

Farewell to Engine 4 — after years of faithful service, Engine 4 is heading to Westmoreland County Fire Academy, where she'll take on a new mission training the next generation of firefighters. A proud send-off for a well-earned retirement.

One last look at the current Engine 2 — before she transitions to her new role as Engine 4, catch her one final time in her current designation.

Last night's training was packed with activity across the station!

One group spent the evening working through large area search, rescue, and survival techniques. These are critical skills for navigating complex, high-risk environments where every second counts.

Meanwhile, another crew was busy getting Engine 2 ready for action: packing hose and putting in the work to bring her closer to being put into service.

Great effort all around from everyone who came out. This is exactly the kind of dedication that keeps our community protected.

Last week William Penn Elementary learning support teacher, Miss Kendal Allsopp recently spoke with fourth graders about the history of the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Department and her family's multigenerational connection to it.
Allsopp's family ties to the department span decades. Her late grandfather, William Allsopp, served for more than 50 years. Her father, Brian Allsopp, remains an active member, and her brother, Randon Allsopp, and her great-uncles, Tom and Richie Allsopp, have also served.
The presentation followed students' thank-you notes to the department in honor of Firefighter Appreciation Day on May 4. The Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Department also provided helmets to the fourth graders for the occasion.

Today on International Firefighters’ Day, we want to recognize and thank the dedicated men and women who volunteer their time to protect the Bethel Park community. From emergency calls and training to public events and fundraising, their commitment and sacrifice make a difference every single day.

Today, the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for a report of ducklings trapped in a storm drain.

Upon arrival, a momma duck was found in distress with 1 of her ducklings. The other 9 ducklings were discovered inside the storm drain. The BPVFC worked with the Bethel Park Police Department to successfully rescue all 9 ducklings and reunite them with mom, before returning all the ducks to the wild.

Say hello to the new 110 Engine 2! The 2024 Pierce Saber Engine will be stationed out of Milford, Station #2. Years of effort went into the fundraising, speccing, building, and oversight that led to this moment. Most of all, we want to thank you, the citizens of Bethel Park. This engine was entirely paid for by donations, and we would not have it to help protect the community without your support.
