Wesley Family Services Our mission is to empower children, adults and families by providing
transformational Quality Whole Person Care®!

Our Mission: To empower children, adults and families by providing transformational Quality Whole Person® care. Our Vision: To do more for children, families and adults; be more effective, efficient and sustainable; and continue to innovate in what we do and how we do it. In July 2017, Wesley Spectrum and Family Services of Western PA merged in order to allow us to provide high-quality services across the lifespan of our clients. The strengths of the organizations coming together as one makes us more effective and enables us to serve more populations. Out of these shared goals, Wesley Family Services was born.

"Families don't have to match." We say it often, and we mean what we say. We work with single adults, married and unmarried couples, and families of every configuration. What a child needs is safety, stability, and someone by their side. That's the whole list.

Our Foster Care, Adoption, and Post Permanency team works to find permanent homes for children and teens who need them and supports the families long after the paperwork is complete. If you wonder whether you'd qualify, all you need to do is ask. 💙

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, and we just want to remind you that you don't need any special training to help: you just need to be willing to ask.

If someone you love seems different — maybe they're withdrawn or hopeless or giving things away — ask them plainly and directly whether they are thinking about taking their own life. You're giving them permission to be honest, maybe for the first time.

Then listen and stay with them. Help them connect to support. You don't need the right words: you just have to not look away.

Some weeks, self-care seems like just another item on the to-do list. Start small, and just give yourself one hour. Our Wellness Center in New Kensington has a full calendar or gentle movement sessions that are low-pressure and can be joined in person or via Zoom.

No experience or particular fitness level requirement — just an hour of your time.

11 days out. 💙 Team Wesley is walking and running in the Autism Speaks Empower Walk + 5K Run on September 19, and we're still raising funds to support autism research, resources and advocacy.

Autism support isn't a phase that families pass through: the needs and services change for people living with autism across their entire lifespan. Supporting funding research, advocacy and resources helps make that happen.

💛 It's National Su***de Prevention Month, and we want you to know that a crisis isn't permanent, even when it feels like one. Most who get through an acute crisis do not take their own life: they get help, they get time, and things change.

Which means the job for the rest of us is mostly about buying time and staying close. It's checking on the friend who's gone quiet and asking the direct questions. It's sitting through the uncomfortable pauses and the follow-ups.

You can text, call or chat 988 any time, day or night, for you or someone you love.

We're here too, with outpatient therapy, psychiatric care and crisis stabilization services across Western PA.

🪹 Every caregiver needs a rest. Parenting a child is deeply rewarding, but it is real, sometimes exhausting work. That's what the Wesley Nest is for.

Every third Saturday, we open our Wilkinsburg respite center for supervised morning and afternoon sessions for foster parents and guardians. Kids do arts and crafts, socialize, and have trained staff to support them. Caregivers get a few hours to run errands, breathe or do absolutely nothing.

🏃Team Wesley is walking and running in the Autism Speaks Empower Walk + 5K Run on Saturday, September 19.

We're aiming to raise $500 to support research, resources and advocacy with people living with autism and their families, the same families we're proud to support every day.

We'd love to have you join us or cheer us on with a donation. Anything helps. 💙

Asking for help early isn't an overreaction—it's prevention. September is National Su***de Prevention Month, and one of the most protective things a person can have is somewhere to go before a crisis starts.

🪻 Our Mental Health Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient programs are that somewhere. Available for children, adolescents, and adults at our Bridgeville, Monroeville, New Kensington and Wexford offices — no referral necessary.

If you or someone you love is in crisis, please text 988 now.

Angela's salmon patties just landed — hit play to watch her get them to hold together instead of crumbling in the pan (the classic salmon-patty downfall), crisp the outside without drying the middle, and pair them with a salad that's more than an afterthought. 🐟

Full recipe's in the first comment. 👇 Making them this week? Tell us what you're serving on the side.

Wesley Family Services' Court Competency Curriculum has been named Program of the Year by the PA Juvenile Court Judges Commission.

CCC helps youth in the juvenile justice system understand the court process and participate in their own case, through one-on-one sessions at no cost to families. The nomination came from Allegheny County Juvenile Probation, and we're grateful for it.

🏆️The award will be presented at the JCJC Conference in November.
