Today served as an important reminder of the power of community resilience in the face of antisemitic hate as we honored the 11 lives taken from us on October 27th, 2018, during the attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue.

May the ceremony today serve as a testament to love triumphing over hate as we continue our healing journey. May the memories of Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil Rosenthal, David Rosenthal, Bernice Simon, Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, and Irving Younger be a blessing to all who knew them.

We had a great Memorial Day as we traveled throughout the City to recognize our fallen Heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe and protect our freedoms. Thank you to all the volunteers & communities who celebrated Memorial Day.

The Press Conference on the NFL awarding the 2026 draft to Pittsburgh Steelers was held at Acrisure Stadium. Congratulations to all involved in making this possible. Thank you Art Rooney, Gov. Pittsburgh is honored to have been named the host city for the 2026 NFL Draft!

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will allow us to showcase our city to an international audience and will give us a chance to say to our global fanbase, come on home to Pittsburgh. We are excited for everyone to see the transformation that has taken place, and to see Pittsburgh as more than the City of Champions, but a place where everyone is safe and welcome.

Our kids need a place to go when they need support and the J. Miles Youth Engagement Center is stepping up to the plate. With partners like these, who are in the community engaging with our kids right where they are, we can continue our work to leave the next generation with the promise of a better tomorrow.

Pittsburgh has lost one of its larger-than-life personalities today. Cyril Wecht embodied Pittsburgh. After growing up in the Lower Hill and getting his medical degree from Pitt, he spent decades in Squirrel Hill serving as a coroner, county commissioner, and even ran for federal office.

As we mourn the loss of this Pittsburgh legend, let us also remember his dedication to getting to the truth. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends and hope that his memory will be a blessing in the days and years to come.

I had a great time yesterday at the Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group’s (PCRG) 14th Annual Community Development Summit. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk our progress in our housing programs. These are excellent numbers. A City on the Move. Thank you!

• In the last 8 years the City was unable to move any properties through the Land Bank. Under my administration we have moved 6 and we are positioned to move over 50 more this year.

• The OwnPGH since launching in January 2023, the URA has provided $5,520,000 total in financing to 100 recipients, with an average household income of $48,030. Of the recipients, 75 percent were women and 60 percent were Black individuals. 46 of the homebuyers were new residents to the City of Pittsburgh. We closed on 100 homes this year.

• We secured a 30 million bond as an investment to ensure that people have access to safe & affordable housing.
