There's something timeless about a place where you can watch pottery being made, enjoy old-fashioned candy, grab an ice cream cone, and gather around the table with family.

As America celebrates 250 years, we're celebrating the traditions, craftsmanship, and simple moments that still matter.

Good food helps, but honestly, just walking around here is part of the fun. 🇺🇸

Grab lunch at Pottery House Cafe, ice cream from the Creamery, wander through the shops, and enjoy all the little spots around the property dressed up for America 250.

One of those places where you end up staying longer than you planned.

This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives for our country.

As America approaches 250 years, places like The Old Mill still stand as reminders of the generations who built, served, sacrificed, and helped shape the country we know today.

You can smell the caramel before you even walk in.

This Memorial Day weekend, stop by the The Old Mill Candy Kitchen for warm caramel made from scratch in copper kettles, old-fashioned taffy pulling, and caramel apples that somehow disappear faster than you planned.

The sweet employee behind the counter handing you candy might just be part of the experience, too. 🍎🍬

Some places don’t need an introduction.
Just weathered wood, warm lights, fresh food, handmade pieces, and nearly 200 years of stories around every corner at The Old Mill.

Some places are meant to be rushed through.
This isn’t one of them.

Watch candy being pulled by hand, pottery shaped on the wheel, grains still being milled, and stories shared along the river, all in one place in the foothills of the Smokies.

The Old Mill has been welcoming visitors to Pigeon Forge since 1830, and somehow it still feels timeless.

The cast of The Waltons TV show are in Pigeon Forge for a Waltons Weekend In The Smokies.

Before starting their event, they wanted to explore and play. Everyone enjoyed a full Old Mill Restaurant Country Breakfast and then stopped by the Mill for a quick tour.

Eric Scott (Ben Walton) loved the biscuits, and Kami Cotler (Elizabeth Walton), Mary McDonough (Erin Walton), and Judy Norton (Mary Ellen) thought the meal and service were great, especially the grits, and Leslie Winston (Cindy Walton - Ben’s tv wife) was fascinated by the grist mill, as they all were.

They just wanted a peek, but stayed for tour by Jimmy, our Old Mill Historian. Delmar, one of our millers, showed them how to tie a miller’s knot. Eric said the mill reminded him of how the saw mill operated on the show.

Before there was a Parkway lined with attractions, there was pottery being made here. 🇺🇸

For more than 75 years, Pigeon River Pottery has carried on a tradition first started by Douglas Ferguson, whose pottery shop became one of the very first tourist destinations in Pigeon Forge.

Just steps from The Old Mill, built in 1830, the shelves are still filled with pieces shaped, glazed, and finished by hand in the Smokies.

This season, you’ll find a few America 250 touches throughout the shop, alongside a tradition that’s been here long before trends ever arrived.
