Would you know what to do if someone was experiencing heat stroke?

Heat stroke can happen quickly and become life-threatening. Symptoms may include confusion, dizziness, a high body temperature, hot skin, or fainting.

If someone is showing signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately and move them to a cooler place while waiting for help.

🏫☀️ Back-to-school means making a plan for how kids will get home safely, especially during extreme heat.

Whether they walk, bike, take the bus, or get picked up, make sure they have a safe way to get home and a cool place to go when they arrive!

🥵 If the AC is out or the power goes out, don’t wait for indoor temperatures to become dangerous. Have a backup plan for where your family can cool down.

Keep kids cool. Keep kids safe. Plan for the heat!

🔋 Keep extra batteries, flashlights, and backup power sources handy in case the power goes out
🌳 Trim overhanging tree branches that could fall and become a hazard
🏠 Head inside and stay away from windows when the weather hits

? Heat, especially in high humidity, makes it harder for pets to cool down!

Protect your pets during monsoon storms:

♨️ Test the ground temperature before you walk. Put the back of your hand on the ground for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pet. Seek grass, shade, or use booties.

🌅 Walk slower during morning walks when humidity is highest.

🧊 Keep outdoor and indoor bowls full, clean, and cold.

🦠 Fresh, cold water helps our pets cool down and also slows bacterial growth that thrives in hot, humid environments.
