Michael Sanchez* has been indicted for a shooting in Buckeye that left a teen girl and two babies dead.

On May 14, Sanchez shot two pregnant teen girls and a young woman, killing his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend and her unborn baby. The injuries forced the other 17-year-old girl to deliver her baby early. The newborn died days later.

A grand jury indicted Sanchez on the following charges:
• One count of First-Degree Murder, a Class One Dangerous Domestic Violence Felony
• One count of First-Degree Murder, a Class One Dangerous Domestic Violence Felony, and Dangerous Crime Against Children
• One count of First-Degree Murder, a Class One Dangerous Felony
• Two counts of Attempt to Commit First-Degree Murder, a Class One Dangerous Felony
• Two counts of Aggravated Assault, a Class Three Dangerous Felony
• One count of Interference with Monitoring Devices, a Class Four Felony

A second person is charged in the case for driving Sanchez away from the crime scene after the shooting and helping him hide. Antonio Tequida* was indicted on one count of Hindering Prosecution in the First Degree, a Class Three Felony.

Sanchez is being held non-bondable. Tequida is currently in custody on a $100,000 cash bond.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced today that Brenda Rivera Estrada* has been indicted for a rollover crash that killed her 9-year-old daughter.

On April 12, Rivera Estrada crashed her SUV on the northbound I-17 near Cactus Road. Her daughter died after being thrown from the SUV. Three other children were in the vehicle and suffered minor injuries. DPS Troopers suspected the defendant had been using ma*****na, but results from her blood work and the collision analysis were not immediately available.

The case was initially furthered** to gather additional evidence needed to file charges. A little over a month later, the toxicology results came back and showed that Rivera Estrada screened positive for both ma*****na and m**h.

A grand jury indicted her on the following charges:
• one count of Manslaughter, a Class Two Dangerous Felony
• three counts of Endangerment, a Class Six Dangerous Felony
• one count of Possession or Use of Dangerous Drugs, a Class Four Felony
• one count of Possession or Use of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class Six Felony

A warrant was issued, and Rivera Estrada was transported from ICE custody to the Maricopa County Jail, where she is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

**Misinformation was circulated online that MCAO “declined” charges. This was never correct.
