The GOP tax relief plan struck with Governor Evers included both increased special education funding AND property tax relief. Every single Democrat in the state senate voted against it, causing it to go down in flames. Now they want you to believe they intend to do exactly what they just voted against last month.

Today some of my colleagues and I joined the Wisconsin Farm Bureau for a tour of the Biewer Sawmill & Treating facility in Prentice! 🪵

This sawmill can crank out up to 12 MILLION board feet per month, supplying important dimensional lumber to our lumber yards. Next time you start a project, check your board for the number #165. If you see it, you’ll know that you’ve got a piece of wood that was most likely grown, cut, processed, and brought to market by our own Wisconsin land and labor! 💪

The DNR stated that even if we released the money they requested last minute, the stocking cuts would go into place and the money would fund additional management positions instead. We said NO, use the money for actual fish stocking and transfer your existing staff back to the Brule facility. Now they shuttered the hatchery altogether, which any local will tell you they’ve wanted to do for years. 🎣

Poor planning. Poor communication. Poor outcomes.

The actions of the department over the last few months have been completely unacceptable. I am wildly disappointed. It’s time for new leadership and a new vision at the DNR. 🎣

This morning I stopped down to the Mosaic Technologies ribbon cutting and grabbed a picture with Gilbert Brown! Mosaic is much more than an Internet provider — check out all their new services! 🔐🏈

Afterwards I popped up to Ashland and met with the North Wisconsin Rod & Gun Club to fill them in on the recent drama with our hatcheries and fish stocking. It’s been nearly a month and I’m still waiting to hear from the DNR how they plan to use the ADDITIONAL money we released. Stay tuned! 🎣

When we first bought our old farm, I knew I wanted to replace the dairy cow up on the shed with a Highland cow (since that’s what we raise). After touring Tiger Manufacturing a year ago, I knew exactly where to get my signs!

I Co-Chaired a meeting of the Joint Committee on Finance this morning.

We approved $7 million in additional funding for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation to help people with disabilities find and maintain steady employment.

We also approved the sale of the now vacant Department of Health Services (DHS) building in downtown Madison. This sale will save taxpayers about $200 million in deferred maintenance costs.
