2-on-Tuesday Morning Session at Gorgas Park
June 2, 8:30-10:30am
On Tuesday morning, join us at Gorgas Park to tend the gardens that beautify this 12-acre community park. We’ll meet at the Parkhouse (6300 Ridge Avenue) and walk together to the volunteer site. This is a fun session to garden with others. Bring gloves and your favorite hand tools.
The Friends of Gorgas Park are neighbors and friends of the park who volunteer their time to create a welcoming space for the whole community. They organize concerts and community gatherings, while also improving the ecology the park. Over the years, in collaboration with the RMC and dedicated volunteers, they have added landscaping around the Parkhouse and along the park’s perimeter.

Two great events coming up at Germany Hill Park – this sunday and tuesday!

Sunday join us for a fascinating walk where we will learn about the animals that live in use the park. thriough the clues they leave behind. Great for all ages!

Sunnday May 31 | 1-3 PM
Germany Hill: Placemaking, invasive plant removal & cleanup
Meet at the war memorial (4829 Smick St, Philadelphia, PA 19127)

Join us next week at Germany Hill for work centered around “place making”. Some volunteers will continue preparing the site of this fall’s restoration seeding project. Continued invasive plant management (IPM) over the summer will create a place for native grass seedlings to take hold. Other volunteers will utilize salvage timber from the park to begin the creation of community space — it is a beautiful space for people to meet or rest. I look forward to working with you all again next week.

Join us with Philly Trackers at Germany Hill
Sunday, May 31, 1-3pm
We’ll meet at the WWII War Memorial on Smick Street.
Join the Philadelphia Wildlife Tracking Club for a guided nature walk at Germany Hill Park and learn how to identify the animals that live in and use the park. Tracking animals is like detective work—it goes way beyond footprints!
We'll start with a short discussion to introduce basic tracking concepts, build shared vocabulary, and connect as a group. Afterward, we’ll head up the Hill for a relaxed walk on the trail to look for wildlife tracks and signs around the area.
What to Bring:
• Dress according to the weather
• A notebook and pen for observations
• Any tracking guide (recommended but not required)
• Water and any personal essentials
• Overly enthusiastic curiosity
All ages are welcome!
