Please join us tomorrow morning (10am-12pm) at the Manayunk Bridge Garden. This garden is truly stunning, especially late in the season with displays of goldenrod and asters. But we are going to add more early- and mid-season flowers, both for aesthetics and pollinators. We've been digging up sections of goldenrods/asters to replace with a range of materials, including Echinacea, Blazing Star, Amsonia, Bergamot and more! We will also construct tiers using local schist and install maintenance paths! The Friends Group will warm us up with coffee and donuts to start.
We will gift the plant materials we remove from Bridge Garden to other partner parks—the RMC is a circular economy! This increased plant diversity will not only look beautiful, but it will improve the ecology across our park network.

🌿 Fall Planting at the Manayunk Canal! Join us this Sunday to plant moisture-loving natives at the Community Peninsula, where we've been clearing invasive plants and creating habitat for wildlife!

With a picnic table donated by The OFFICIAL Manayunk, Philadelphia , the Peninsula is becoming a welcoming public space, already enjoyed by neighbors and fishermen.

We'll be adding some water loving plants to increase interest and biodiversity. We're especially excited about the American elderberry shrubs (great for birds!) and beautiful Culver's root and more from Good Host Plants

We'll also paint the picnic table and, time permitting, clear a new lookout.

📍 Meet at 116 Fountain Street, we'll walk to the Peninsula together (a 5 minute walk north along the canal trail)

All are welcome! Bring gloves and clippers if you have them. We'll provide the rest.

👻 🎃 Kick off the season right and head to Kelly Park (440-442 Parker Avenue) for their 2nd annual Trunk, Table and Treat Event this Friday 10/23, starting at 5pm :) It's all free and hosted by the Friends of Kelly Park! There will be prizes, pumpkin painting, and of course treats!! Come in costume -- Great for ALL ages -- Family friendly! See you soon!

The morning crew closed out the 2026 season with a planting at the Fountain Street Steps last Tuesday. It's been a great year and we are especially grateful to see so many new faces become regulars.
The upper containers got a makeover to bring more summer blooms! We removed much of the amsonia and added liatris, coneflowers, yarrow, and more—all generously donated by a Brewerytown resident.
At the lower Fountain Street Steps, we uncovered brickwork on either side of the fountain and planted two Virginia sweet spire shrubs. We also pulled out lots of daylilies and replaced them with red coneflower hybrids, plenty of bee balm and black-eyed Susan. Can't wait to see everything blooming next year!

Come by the Manayunk Bridge Garden tomorrow from 11-1pm for a chill but important work session. We'll be digging up sections of aster and goldenrod, beautiful as it is in Fall the garden is too Fall-centric. We will be planting and seating a range of native plants on Saturday 10/24 that will make next year a showstopper all year!

We're beyond excited to share that RMC volunteer Cayla Milius and illustrator Kelly Schanes have created We Love You, Manayunk!, a charming book celebrating community stewardship and beloved local spaces—including two RMC sites, the Manayunk Canal and Fountain Street Steps!
And the best part? All book proceeds benefit RMC through the end of the year! Wow — Thank you so much, Cayla and Kelly!

So head over to The OFFICIAL Manayunk, Philadelphia Fall Fest -- We love you, Manayunk! Will be available for purchase at their booth on Roxborough Avenue (off of Main St) from 11- 4 pm; grab a copy and support our parks!
